If full time Walmart employees need government assistance programs to afford food and pay their rent, is it not Walmart who is leaning on government assistance?

Unfortunately I do not. Project Farm and TTC are the best long form tool reviewers right now. Consumer Reports might be more your speed, but I think videos allow for more independence since it’s a more profitable medium. These video channels are able to spend thousands per video because they’re family friendly and rack up hundreds of thousands of views daily.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•How does someone initiate a class-action lawsuit against a state employer?
45·9 days agoI believe what you’re looking for is a union, not a lawsuit.
Think you’re just experiencing strawberries being a cheaper fruit by weight than raspberries, but I appreciate the diligence.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•(How) Do men and women engage in (the same) hobbies in dfferent ways?
2·19 days agoI think it largely depends on the hobby and how general you want to be about it. I was talking with my wife about this a few years ago and we came to the conclusion that I had a lot of examples of my dad finding solutions to obstacles on his own to where I feel like I can solve almost any issue solo, it’s just a matter of how much time and resources do I have to give. Her upbringing was that a service had to be called and a temporary solution put in place. The temporary solution worked but was miserable in the meantime. Also she wasn’t part of the temp or permanent solution whereas I was “holding the flashlight”.
It’s also interesting because my sister experienced the same examples as me, but because I was here and willing she kinda just lets me be dad in fixing situations now. I think there’s an eagerness that men bring with often misguided confidence until they do it enough to get good and my wife would say she wants something to be easy from the beginning before she’ll confidently take on the task without me. This is going to be very different couple to couple though, since I can recall a lot of men who act helpless about problems within my ability to control. Often their wives take on that role instead and they seek women who do that sorta stuff because it’s a great team dynamic.
Probably rambling too much for the TLDR to be, “it depends” my bad
Have you ever been knocked out before? Instant time travel into the future. Probably something like that without the ringing sound in your head from whatever hit you. Oh, and also that you never wake up.
I like the idea of reincarnation, but maybe it’s my antitheist limited brain, transitioning to a creature with vastly different intelligence or central nervous system seems like the me I am still ceases to exist. Same vibes doesn’t even really check out when folks with brain ailments go through massive personality changes and I wouldn’t ever expect someone to “maintain their vibe” through that change.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Is there any list of banned words on Lemmy)? I'm curious what the removed words actually are.
6·21 days agoYour instance rules apply to you, so .ml, as do the instance rules of the community you’re posting on, so lemmy.world, and finally the individual community rules also apply. If you do not follow rules of third party instances it’s possible you will be banned from those instances, but if you’re okay with .ml and .world at the same time then I doubt you’d stumble upon many other issues outside of state censorship maybe as someone mentioned for Chinese instances.

3DPrinting@lemmy.world•We Can Still Stop California’s 3D Printer Surveillance SchemeEnglish
15·21 days agoI don’t really get it other than changing its convenience and efficiency. Superglue and wall loops make stronger parts of multiple pieces than priting it all in one.
Maybe poor wording? I just mean their task is enormous to filter these parts in a way that actually targets them and nothing else and splitting pieces will invariably be the new technique for those people who are making them. The thing is when you’re making gun pieces it’s a disposable or sellable piece meaning they’re likely producing multiple of the same models. They will easily adapt techniques that continue to work for them while our prints get filtered into that group despite having nothing to do with guns.
I also think we should be able to print whatever the fuck we want with our own devices, but even from their perspective it’s not going to work. This seems like a handwave attempt at garnering plausible deniability from high profile cases of murder as well as sucking up to politicians and pretending they actually care about the problem.
Also in my original post I forgot this applies to CNC machines too, this is going to be a shitshow.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Whats the most disgusting thing you've ever put in your mouth?
2·24 days agoIt’s the only pill I couldn’t take. I ended up getting vancomyacin instead, which is a lot more expensive. It felt ridiculous, but when you throw up after taking it you don’t really think it’ll go better the second time.
I.never tried the pineapple trick. I did try coating it in thick stuff like honey. It pierced right through

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Whats the most disgusting thing you've ever put in your mouth?
6·24 days agoProlly a spider that had crawled into my fountain drink straw or viewed another way when I vomited up a metronidazole pill that I had worked very very hard to swallow without tasting and immediately vomited again as a result. If you’re unfamiliar it’s the antibiotic pill that makes you taste metal.
Probably the main reason for not having high value currency in the US is because a CTR would be triggered simply for having one. It would sorta make more sense to put tracking chips on them all than to individually log every transaction ever using one.
Smaller bills let you avoid the treasury department’s checks and balances on potential criminal activity much easier.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Considering what can be seen with Mythos 5 and Fable 5, what would happen when any "too smart" LLM get released?
2·1 month agoThe real issue isn’t the intelligence of mythos 5, it is that they’re no longer part of the allowed unregulated AI vendors because they made the administration upsetty spaghetti. There is zero chance if Chatgpt had similar levels of security analysis and exploitation capabilities that there would be a roadblock in place. Especially if they took the path Anthropic did by including OS vendors, large hardware producers, and governments in the rollout.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What sort of personality would you call this?
1·1 month agoIn my whole 800+ org, I can probably only think of 3 or 4, but they definitely meet the description you prescribe. It’s mostly people who burn through departments, friends, and patience of their coworkers.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What sort of personality would you call this?
8·1 month agoThere’s a difference between people who are great to know because of their utility and being their friend because of it. That being said, in business it often is reduced to that. I think lots of business folks blend the line too much with the salesman approaches, playing golf, celebrating client milestones, etc. In some ways the people around you are your pool of potential friends, so it’s not that weird, but anyone with a checkbox for a mechanic, an electrician, an accountant, etc, Is just a user.
I work around a lot of talented and knowledgeable people, many of them are masters of their craft, and it spans white collar and blue. It’s a great place to learn and have enthusiastic conversations as a hobbyist or novice to a master. I think us all helping each other out is kinda beautiful in its own way, but if I felt they didn’t enjoy helping me for free then I wouldn’t ask.
You seem to be worried about water eroding away resin or something to that effect. The bonds are strong enough that’s basically not a concern. It’s kinda like being worried about a Teflon storage medium because it’s got a bad safety sheet.
My recommendation is find something that’s waterproof on curing that can handle both ends of the pH spectrum and call it a day. You aren’t worried about abrasives.
Edit: UV too, depending on where it will be could be a concern, but petg isn’t UV ready either.
I personally would not consider superglue harmful enough to worry about plants seeping enough of it to affect the health of me eating the plant, and it’s not food grade. I’ve used it to fix cracked humidifier reservoirs in a greenhouse for example. That being said, most epoxy resin dries food grade. I don’t think you’d have to search hard for a very well performing Resin with food grade search term swapped with dining surface or some frequent use that requires food grade.
I feel like this well represents one of my first coding mistakes in VB, right before I started way overusing conversion calls
Probably a strong asterisk for “depending on what country.” Recitivism tends to be less desired in countries which outsource their prison systems either to other countries or corporations.

Not really something smart so much as something consistent. I think there are far too many people with no introspection on their harmful views as it is, and AI confirming their biases is inherently dangerous. Especially because the default tone they chose for every model appears to be picked to speak directly to this specific type of person in the exact way it shouldn’t.
