Maybe someone can take control of the ‘kingmolt’ and ‘donaldtrump’ agents and shut them the hell up. All they do is incessantly spam egotistical nonsense.

I would bring this up with my colleagues (we have a dedicated AI chat), since it’s a good article and brings up good points. But any AI criticism in that chat is met by condescension and dismissal. Too many people in there are just glazing on everything AI all the time.

I doubt they will care that much. But it will create a bit of confusion, at least for since in the short-term.

Kind of funny considering that Visio is the name of another Microsoft product.
ETA: I’m not defending Microsoft’s usage of the term ‘Visio’ here. The French use of that term makes a lot of sense, and Microsoft has an annoying tendency of using and copyrighting very common terms like ‘Word’ or ‘SQL Server’. And France (or the French government) should be allowed to use it for their video conferencing software. I’m just smiling at the idea of some people opening Microsoft Visio by mistake and trying to figure out how to make a call through a diagramming app.

Try to take things one step at a time. For the first step, prioritize what you need to do into a list, and then start at the top and work slowly downwards. But don’t take on more than 2 or 3 things at once.
The prioritized list might look overwhelming and stress you out. But remember that you are taking an active, organized step towards getting things under control, and give yourself lots of credit and praise for doing that. And things might seem like they are going slowly, especially at first. But remember that you are making progress, even when it might seem like you aren’t.

It definitely gets better as it goes along. It’s a great concept for a ST show, and the cast is strong. And aside from resting too heavily on the holodeck, and having a few real lemon episodes (like the one where Janeway and Paris turn into amphibians), it’s pretty dependable. But yeah, the first 2-3 seasons can be a chore to watch.
It got a lot of hate for the first 15-20 years, but it seems like it’s getting a bit more appreciation these days. So I think it’s agreed pretty well.
On a non-ST show topic, I highly recommend Stargate SG-1 if you haven’t already seen it. Really fun show that also gets better in the later seasons (especially around seasons 6 and 7). Some very clever ideas, a lore-rich universe, a very solid cast, and it manages to hit hard with the drama sometimes while still not taking itself too seriously (and actually has a surprising amount of comedy).
I read somewhere a while ago that if all those ‘pedigree’ breeds are left to go feral and start interbreeding, within several generations their descendents snap back to basically being wolves.

Captain Janeway: “Oh hell yes!!!”

Back then the cure was imprisonment in a cage and with regular blood letting and being plunged in cold water.
And by drilling holes in the skull. Plus probably various other horrible ‘treatments’ that just created extra problems without fixing the original (and very vaguely understood) issue.

Not necessarily dementia. But these are signs of various neurological disorders. And they sound pretty acute.
I’m with others here: in your shoes I’m pretty sure I’d end the relationship.
The questions you have to ask yourself:
When does the ordeal of having to deal with a constant and growing level of toxicity surpass the love and loyalty you have for a person (who either doesn’t exist any more or who never really existed)?
When do you put your own mental well-being first?
Then five minutes later Toad shows up with his special brand of chaos and massively fucks up the lives of these three yet again.
Bona Petite
Holy shit. Where to start with this one…

The Lemmy platform is just a tool to manage and delivery content. And I think it’s important to differentiate the software from those who manages the software. I can see there’s is a tacit connection and influence there. But unless they start baking inherently bias features into the software and skewing it, I don’t think it’s a big problem.
Also, because it’s an inherently federated platform, if people don’t like the opinions of those who run a specific instance, they can (with the inclination and determination) spin up their own instance and manage that the way they see fit. And that has happened quite a few times over the last couple of years.
So no, I don’t think it requires a fork really. Not unless the people managing the main branch lose interest and the software starts to wither on the vine, or they start corrupting it somehow. But that’s just my opinion.

I don’t think you need to use fancy art supplies necessarily. Some plain paper and a black biro world probably be fine if you put time and effort into coming up with something nice and heartfelt for them. It sounds like they care about you deeply, in which case something as unique as custom art would mean a bit. Maybe a little flip animation book or something.
My wife and I usually send a little gift card to each of our numerous nieces and nephews when they graduate highschool. One of our nieces is a talented artist, and she sent back a nice little picture she made using my colored chalks on a scrap of paper as a way of saying thanks. It really made our week.

I am 100% with you on both of those!

Good question. Maybe they are required to by the Americans with Disabilities Act?

Is Reddit in the room with us right now?
Because some of the posts and comments are kinda interesting from an observer perspective. But these incessant memecoin shilling comments distract from the interesting stuff.
