You’re most likely right. Though, she is holding twins in the picture I think. Depending on genetics, it’s possible that a few of the other siblings are also twins. But that’s still a hell of a lot of pregnancies, and twin pregnancies are generally harder and riskier than singles, so… yeah that’s not really any consolation.

I live in the area and yeah, it’s everywhere. It’s become a game to spot the billboards that aren’t for AI companies.

I think these cloud companies have been pretty successful convincing people that at-home storage is more at-risk than the cloud because you could always have a house fire or something, or your hard drive could fail, or whatever. But it seems the pendulum is now swinging the other way as people get wise to the inherent dangers of only keeping things on the cloud, and trusting a company with your data no less.

Maybe the reason they’re sitting mostly unused is because much of the public feels similarly to OP and doesn’t want to jump through a bunch of hoops just to use a tennis court.

I always felt like I was being a bit antisocial not to go to one. I’ve never been to a college reunion either. I’ve kept in close touch with only one person from high school and a handful from college. Add to that: 1) I don’t feel like I have much to brag about; 2) I would feel icky bragging even if I did. And that’s what I imagine reunions to be, if you haven’t kept in touch generally: just a bunch of near-strangers posturing to each other to feel better about themselves. I just don’t have any interest in that. It’s much the same reason I got off of social media about 10 years ago (minus the link aggregators/forums).

I watched the show and then within the last year listened to the audiobooks. In book 4? I think? Amos is talking to Peaches about how humans are tribal, and their tribes expand when times are good but shrink when times are bad. And yeah, it was kind of a mind-blown moment for me because I’d never thought of it that way before.

I did this once after getting these toothbrushes for my kids. Of course we didn’t figure it out before opening the package. Thankfully I found someone in the school community who could use them. Sorry it happened to you, too!

My family had an Atari, then a Sega Genesis (and maybe even one of the earlier Sega consoles? But I’m not sure, I was really little) but we never had a Nintendo before the 64, which my little brother saved up for and bought with his own money. He and I played a lot of Sonic together, 2-player, usually with him playing Tails but not always. We fought a lot as kids but when we played Sonic together, we didn’t fight. I think it was one of our only true bonding activities and I’m so thankful for it because we are friends as adults.

I bet there are at least some working there who have their heads in the sand about how bad a company it is and just want to believe they’re good people doing good work. I don’t think many people want to admit to themselves that they’re just doing something for money. But yeah… the proverbial rock they live under must be mountain-sized.

Can’t speak for the hillbillies but Lucy stands up, for the most part. She was a real one. It is funny seeing hers and Ricky’s separated twin beds for filming, though.

Yes! About a year ago we went up a very curvy hill with the kids that has, in the past, always made everyone feel queasy, even the driver to some extent. But this year, it didn’t at all. I think it was because we were driving an EV, and without all of the hurky-jerky of the nonexistent transmission, it was way smoother.

The other commenter is totally right about it being “like riding a bike.” My kids started riding and I had a bike but hadn’t ridden in like 15 years probably, so I was a little apprehensive about trying it again. It was no problem at all.
