The belief that “tankie” is an anti-communist pejorative is really all you need to know about his politics. Imagine using Western nations as the lens to constantly talk shit about imperialism, while dry humping the legs of other imperialist nations. And they’ll use as much pseudo-intellectualist, cherry-picked logic as they need to defend their hypocritical arguments, while dismissing any arguments to the contrary as CIA-backed propaganda, despite overwhelming evidence from multiple sources. Marx is rolling in his grave.
They are quite literally the Eastern equivilent of MAGA-addled nationalists.
Yeah, tankies are conservatives. The term doesn’t mean right-wing - it describes humanity’s innate tribalist worldview.
They have decided these countries are Their Side, so any criticism is unjustifiable persecution, because Their Side can do nothing wrong. Things are right because they do them. It’s the little people’s job to shuffle cards into argument-shaped sentences bolstering that received conclusion. Objective reality can only make them pick new pretense, and only sometimes. Logical consistency doesn’t even register.
Their stated ideals are ad-hoc justifications. All that has ever mattered is ingroup loyalty. They think that’s all you’re doing, because they think that’s all there is.
Campism is another term I hear to describe them, sounds pretty fitting. They’ve picked The Good Camp before they even defined their arguments so of course they have to invent shit to fit the evidence.
They love victimhood polemics around the term tankie, even though it’s a descriptive term.
They just love playing the victim in general. They wouldn’t have to kill or crush X group of they didn’t pose some sort of existential threat etc.
Their enemy is simultaneously too weak to take seriously and too strong to not be a victim.
So much like the liberals they hate. Magats genuinely believe the shit they want will help those that need it too. And history has proved them just as wrong. But it’s always that they didn’t crush or criminalize dissent hard enough. Never that they didn’t listen to the dissent.

When someone claims to love corn but starts attacking onions using made-up recipes, and calls those who point that out anti-allium genus pejoratives like “onio-nutjob,” I doubt their sincerity. The point is true in this instance, in the sense that I as an onion enthusiast don’t really see what’s “corny” about disliking onions.
