That’s a minor plot point in Terry Pratchett’s Nation. Throughout the book the characters encounter all kinds of strange phenomena like musket bullets being stopped by water which could be attributed to magic but the characters go out of their way to explain them with science.
Bullets through water. Physics don’t work that way.
At least we’ve mostly seen an end to people being “blown away”.
