    There wasn’t a massacre in the square itself in the sense of tanks running people into pulp, which again happened elsewhere. (it’s NEAR the square, guys! totally different!) But there was death, and soldiers and police shooting at protestors and making an excessive and oppressive display of force.

    Allow me to specify, when I refer to ‘they’ – I refer to the government.

    They’re driving tanks through the same square where they massacred protestors.

    Means they are showing their force by driving military vehicles through the square where they previously massacred protestors. Massacre in the sense that a lot of protestors were killed.

    I think this is a telling bingo square of how tankies operate. They know that Tiananmen Square was wrong, they know that student protestors were senselessly murdered and killed with military force – BUT! They can argue that the location was elsewhere! That 9 people died instead of 10!
