Very happy for it. There’s probably been some good RPGMaker games out there, but having the absolute bog-standard presentation of square sprites has caused a lot of them to blend together in my mind. I’ve always known there was a lot of algorithmic display choices that could make basic art look better, and this is sort of just one option; I’d even like it if they expand to more isometric looks, or any other creative approach.
That looks good. Will be fun to play what people make with it someday
Will it run on Linux? (I mean the editor, not the games it produces.)
At least some of the past ones do; they’re on Steam.
I know, but with the last version they did not support Linux anymore. The version before that was supported on Linux. So its unclear at the moment if the next version will do.
Ah, gotcha, thanks.
It’s gonna be like 80 bucks isn’t it?
RPG Maker MV is 80 bucks and that one is from 2015. DLC included you’re looking at ~130 bucks. I’d expect it to be quite a bit more expensive.
Reminds me of the Pokemon Alpha Saphire/Omega Ruby games with the 3d-2d style.
Reminds me of Shining Force III , Grandia , Vandal Hearts and other 5th-gen titles that birthed the genre/aesthetic.
