Y’all remember that meme about leftists caring about human rights issues and tankies countering that with nothing other than “that’s CIA propaganda”? Well, someone . All I commented was “ITT: Insults, putdowns and whataboutisms”. Well, now I’m banned from a whole range of Hexbear comms permanently. Reason:
Rule 1: All posts must include links to the subject matter, and no identifying information should be redacted.
Lol.

just block the whole crap, and never look back. let the cavemen fight eachother.
A part of me wants to do that. The other part of me says to not block it, because that just everyone live in their little bubble that much more, which is a major problem nowadays.
By that logic you should go to klan rallies, and pride parades, peta protests and food drives. Just go to everything with zero nuance, restrictions and self respect. You either learn to get the fuck over what other people are doing. Grow up and start respecting yourself and the limited time we have by ignoring things that arn’t worth your time. Or you waste away worthlessly doing nothing as you fuck yourself over by forcing yourself to bow and compromise as a way to compenstate for shit you have no control over.
So stop giving a fuck if other people live in a bubble. It doesn’t matter, it doesn’t effect you and you arn’t a god king that can force them to change.
The only thing you can do is learn that you need to respect yourself and stand by what you believe in. If something causes problems for you and you arn’t required to interact with it. Then why the fuck would you willingly choose to do so. You arn’t a martyr you get nothing but self harm out of it. If you want to fight for change go fucking do it and be the change you want to see in the world, if you must suffer then make it actually worth it.
But basing your own decisions on a fake problem that you have no control over is dumb as fuck.
Going to those signals support. There’s a difference between that and not filtering out what certain people say. If anything, it’s more like those people who go to counter-protests or go to the far-right rallies to question the people in a way to expose the falsehoods behind their beliefs (albeit on a much, much smaller scale, seeing as this is just the Internet).
Except it does, it affects all of us. A major part of the reason (IMO) everything is so polarized is because so many people are living in their bubble and as such don’t understand why others think differently. And understanding how and why those people think the way they think is the first step in countering it. I have been somewhat successful in moving people away from radical ideologies IRL, but only because I understood those ideologies and their faults.
