This was originally posted to c/games, but since that comm doesn’t allow piracy they replaced the link with a youtube link.

So here’s an alternative for people who don’t like Youtube

Consistently uninterested in game previews built by companies selling the games. I never find them to be accurate representations of gameplay.

what? are they also replacing invidious links with youtube links, inserting their own “si=” parameter to be even more “nonpirate”?

To preface, I’m not a GTA player at all, but I felt confused coming out of watching this. Like, It looks really good, but something about how canned the gameplay itself was, threw me off. It was too clean, like, throw in a couple of missed shots with the guns at least. Have the player not predict where every enemy is. I wanted to see ACTUAL gameplay, not hyper scripted, perfected gameplay. I know this is the same with a lot of preview gameplay, it might be in engine, but it doesn’t give me a real sense of what it would look like in my hands. It always gives me a vibe of what are they trying to hide. My guess in this case is the lower than expected frame rates. Camera movements felt slow and deliberate, a common way to hide frame drops.

Otherwise I think there are a lot of systems going on, and this is going to be one hell of a sandbox game, but I want to see the real thing before even considering playing it.

Gameplay seems pretty much exactly what I thought it would be. Graphics are really nice. The lead guys voice sounds so put on that I think I would be distracted the whole time.

        Graphics are really nice.

trailer graphics are always nicer. you can make an in-engine render with irreal graphics settings if you can allow a few minutes long clip to be rendered in a few hours at 5 FPS

yeah but considering all the other games other companies have been putting out during all this time from 2015, that are also open world, I honestly wonder what Rockstar has been doing all this time.

I too thought that it was very good looking, but other than that, nothing that we haven’t seen before… Perhaps just more of it.

Rockstar’s shooting mechanics have always been bottom-tier. Even if they made it better, it won’t be great. Hopefully, it’s fun with lots to do. Looking forward to getting this from voices38

Barely remember much but I know I liked the game. Still, they never used anything good for the rdr or gta series.

Just a little white dot and even shittier feel.

Oh totally, i’m definitely gonna check it out and play it. I expected more though, I mean all the good stuff we seen in that video is all cutscenes. It looks like this new GTA has a ton of those.

Thats true, and with people waiting for all these years expectations where high. I honestly wonder what they been doing all this time, meanwhile studios like hangar 13 released 4 mafia games in that time, ubisoft 3 watch dogs games, volition 2 saint rows games and gat out of hell and agents of mayhem, avalange 2 just caus4es, microsoft crackdown 3, cd projekt cyberpunk i mean really what has Rockstar been doing GTA-wise?

For me GTA peaked with the originals in 1997-1999 and had a nice little comeback in 2013. Hyperreality is not what I need in games…

The problem is that when graphics become to realistic, you enter the uncanny valley, which makes things seem off.

IME it’s better when they (slightly) stylise the graphics, which makes the game look less realistic, but you weirdly end up noticing it less.

Wasn’t this the thing they told everyone to subscribe to Netflix to see? Now all those people subscribed and they just tweeted it out?

Rockstar and Take Two are such a fucking joke, why do you guys give them any of your time or money? This game is gonna be a huge disappointment and I haven’t even watched the trailer
