Will A.I. wipe out humanity in 10 years, 20 years — or never? I don’t know. You don’t know. But I don’t want to wait to find out.
Call me a raging conservative, but I don’t want to see a dangerous technology continue to evolve rapidly when the owners of that technology acknowledge they can’t control it and they don’t know where it’s going.
For the sake of all humanity, the United States and China must reach an agreement to stop dangerous A.I. development.

I refuse to talk to anyone who calls it “superintelligence”
I thank the fucking morons for identifying themselves and saving me the strife.
Bernie is playing right into the AI companies’ hands. Everyone knows (including the AI vendors) “superintelligence” isn’t coming with LLM technology. They’ve got Bernie fighting against imaginary monsters, while the companies devastate the environment and ruin the economy today.
While I completely agree with you, I think we should give him a break on this one. The man’s 85 after all.
And before that, don’t adopt the MAGA branding. It’s AI.
Its LLMs.
Bernie Sanders has apparently lost the plot completely. Whoever is advising him must be an industry plant. This criti-hype is really counterproductive to reigning in these companies.
Or he’s actually keeping up with the news.
Maybe start by doing something about all the crimes the AI companies admitted to allowing after they plugged their text generators into a computer terminal.
They could hook a nuclear missile silo computer up to a hamster wheel, and leave a hamster nearby. That would also have a pretty high chance of ending the world.
Don’t worry, no superintelligence exists in america…
And why change the name AI, NYT?
People in the know are simply referring to them as large language models.

As a person that only reads headlines and is a potential member to Mentos, I am highly offended that someone wants to get rid of super intelligent people like myself!
