I have a huge bag of filament waste. Where should I send this? I know it is only commercially recyclable in like very specific cases so stuff like PLA will almost never be recycled. However, I do hear of companies accepting filament and they sell back the rolls and stuff. I’m not looking to make a profit or anything, just gotta get this off of me and I want the most sustainable way to do so.
- You can look here might find a place near you that takes plastic https://community.preciousplastic.com/map I’ve been looking at getting something like this to recycle my own filament. https://felfil.com/?v=5ea34fa833a1
- You should probably look into if there’s a company doing this local to you. Either way, I’m very interested in this too.
- I haven’t looked into it too much or done it myself, but I heard of https://creativeheartwarrior.com/pages/filament-recycling - Looks like they currently only take filament as a donation and not as an exchange. - Edit: also found https://printeriordesigns.com/pages/recycling - (Again, haven’t personally tried)
- Perhaps not helpful for most people, but Add:North offers recycling for PLA which you have bought from them.
- Melt it low temp into some sort of bowl mould. - Ok, I melted it down and have about 70 bowls. Now what? - Give to a friend / colleague, then make a pen holders, etc. - Then, up your prep/calibration time to reduce wastage.
