Not using steam, also I’m on Linux.
I got a CRC error twice now when launching factorio space age. First time I fixed it by replacing the mentioned file with a non corrupted one from the installer archive.
Worked but now it’s happening again, a different tree.jpg this time. Haven’t tried anything yet because I think it might happen again in a few days.
Is my SSD or ram fried or could there be another explanation?
Has this happened to anyone before?
Searching online I found people had this issue with mods, but nobody had it with the space age mods.
Edit: this is the exact error this time:
Failed to load mods: IDAT: CRC error: __base__/graphics/entity/tree/09/tree-09-d-normal.png
this is a screenshot of the corrupt file. Lemmy won’t accept it as an image so I had to go this way:
this is what it’s supposed to look like:
edit2: this time replacing this image worked again. Factorio launches. Let’s see how long it takes until I see this error again.
Test without mods I suppose? But if you’re not getting any other file corruption related errors, SSD or RAM doesn’t seem likely. It’s possible, though.
Only three mods are elevated rail, quality and space age. Turned them off last time and factorio would start.
You could try adding one at a time to see if there’s a conflict between your mods? So, test elevated rail with quality, then elevated rail with space age, then quality and space age.
This is just from general experience, btw; I actually don’t play factorio! Just offering some of the basic troubleshooting I’ve used with other games. Hope it helps!
Are there any other forum sites you can post at for help?
These three mods are the mods that make up the new factorio space age expansion. So it’s actually content straight from wube
Well, I don’t suppose they have a customer service email or something you could reach out to? But that does add an interesting wrinkle.
I’m curious now; if I end up researching this later, I’ll make sure to report back anything I discover. But yeah, at this point I’m stumped!
