For Israel’s actions, I just call it imperialism or atrocities.
I’m hesitant about changing anti-semitism or changing zionism to mean imperialism/occupation due to the fuel it’ll give alt-righters and antisemites to hide their bigotry. Had a user here who was using “zio,” a phrase coined by the KKK leader David Duke.
Normally I would say one should not back off of a phrase just because it has been used in bad faith by other groups, not so sure about this one however. Not the least as since middle eastern people are all semites west of Iran it just doesn’t fit as a definition as it is used.
But yes you touch on the Crux of the matter, Israel is directly Allied to actual Nazis and fascists actively pursuing those old school conspiracy theories about Jewish people. Benjamin netanyahu’s son tweeted in support of the Charlottesville Nazis and heaped scorn on the anti-fascists that fought with them in the streets.
It is an unholy alliance, with Evangelical groups as much as any. They are literally supporting the worst things in Israel to bring on the Rapture so the world drowns in lakes of blood and Fire. That is not hyperbole.
I for one oppose drowning the world in lakes of blood and fire, as I suspect most of the electorate does.
I’ve never really heard any of this stuff before. If you can link it, that’d be cool
https://www.huffpost.com/archive/au/entry/israeli-pms-son-says-leftist-thugs-are-more-dangerous-than-ne_au_5cd36988e4b0acea950062b3. I believe contains the trolling of netanyahu’s son, which is not limited to after this incident, apparently he also likes to post memes, one of which earned him the praise of David Duke.
There are otherwise and open alliance with the far right that still pushes a lot of these Jewish themed conspiracies on the right that miss the big picture.
As to the evangelicals, I forget they are about 25% of the Republican electorate, almost uniformly Republican very low numbers that vote otherwise, they have been making huge inroads in Latin America they’re up to 30% of the religious population down there now in places, also in roads into African countries, they have sponsored a lot of the anti-gay legislation like in Uganda or wherever.
But as to their seeking of the rapture, I would not know where to even find and post that, they have not shut up about it for like hundreds of years, it is like mostly from Revelations I think, and wars in the Middle East are like a harbinger of the second coming of Christ, where the faithful will be brought to heaven and everyone else will drown in lakes of blood and fire in an eternal hellscape.
The evangelicals were the largest part of the president’s base within the party, in 2016 he had 30% of the primary voters enthrall to him, and it was mostly evangelicals they have not wavered in their support yet, they feel he is bringing along the end of times quite nicely.
Your source doesn’t show that he supported Charlottesville, but instead that he opposed anti-fascists and also the neo-nazis, calling the anti-fascists a stronger force.
Still incredibly stupid though.
The apocalypse stuff sounds fun though, always love reading insane cults
He attacked anti-fascists the day after they fought the Nazis in Charlottesville, under posts about that. That is absolutely trolling in support of nazis.
what do you mean?
The day after anti-fascists answer the call for help from counter protesters to the unite the right rally that were attacked from those far-right protesters, that netanyahu’s son attacked the anti-fascists on that subject.
Ohhh, you’re right. I should’ve known that
I was thinking that there were protestors, and then the neo-nazis and then the anti-fascists and the protestors were being attacked by both. My mistake
Do you think Charlottesville was the start of the alt-right takeover in the US?
