No??? The post about a particular instance of the Lemmy federated link aggregator software?? What even makes you think I support putin? I see authoritarianism as threat, it’s the main reason why I haven’t moved back to Russia yet and why I’m actively looking to find potential other places to relocate to in case the EU continues its descent into authoritarianism. I can’t even come up with a witty comeback here, I’m genuinely baffled by your train of thought. Though I guess your use of reddit-tier made-up “vocabulary” like “putlerite” proves that “thought” isn’t something that happens in your head very often.

The fact that you started screeching in rage at the first sign of any criticism towards Russia and Putin? You’re trying to spread the whole shitty “it’s actually not an illegal war of aggression, it’s just Putin being kind and denazifying the Ukraine”-rhetoric.

      Been there done that.

Yeah, it is baffling how anyone could pretend like a post about the motto “Slava Ukraini” isn’t about Russia. I don’t know how you do it. The amount of mental gymnastics required is just… yeah, baffling. So I have to conclude that you don’t actually believe in the “denazifying” bullshit. Which means you’re writing that in bad faith. Which is clear to most people who are able to read and write English on a basic level.

Sen joka “sivistystä” tyrkyttääpi, äkkiä nikkeli myrkyttääpi.

I’m having difficulty following. In your psychoanalysis of my comments, am I meant to be a russian bot or not? The two paragraphs seem contradictory.

For the record, I have to admit the “ukraine is full of nazis” narrative was tempting to me around the time of the euromaidan crisis. You know, when ethno-nationalist groups were playing a large role in the shaping of Ukrainian politics. But as time went on (and as I became wiser) it became clear that the image putin is trying to paint, of Russia sweeping in and “saving ukraine from the fascists” is a very distorted view of reality. I certainly did not believe any part of it by the time of the ukrainian invasion.

Do you think a person can only spread bad rhetoric if they’re a state-hired actor?

Doesn’t matter if you confess to believing it or not. You’re still spreading it. Pretending like this is a discussion of internal Ukrainian politics is completely bullshit, as they’re not breaking international law — something which Russia IS doing.

You’re just drawing attention to yourself and excusing Russian behaviour. Condemn Russia and Putler for the international crimes they’ve committed and then I might believe some of what you say.

            Fine, I’ll bite.

It’s not good that Putin commanded the russian army to invade ukraine under the pretense of “denazification”. It wouldn’t have been good under any pretense. Innocent Ukrainians are dying, getting injured, being displaced in the name of “nazis” that don’t exist. Ukrainian culture is being erased in the flames of war. Russia’s invasion of ukraine bears many characteristics of a genocide, and there is no denying that putin’s army has committed and is committing war crimes. It’s not justified. I believe that it wouldn’t be justified EVEN IF Putin’s false narrative of “denazification” was true. Not only Putin, but his entire chain of command, various pro-russian oligarchs, corporations, and individual soldiers are all responsible in some part for this travesty and, in a fair society, should be served justice accordingly.

How’s that sound? Honestly I don’t really care what that you think of me, this is just my personal opinion on the matter. It’s what I tell my friends, coworkers, and people I meet at social functions (it seems my Russian accent often makes people yearn to know what my stance on the matter is, especially when they’ve had a few beers). I know it’s not the most pro-Ukraine take out there, but what matters TO ME is that it is my genuine opinion and is consistent with my moral framework and understanding of reality. I really hope you can say the same for your opinion, even if it differs from mine.

              “Good”?

That’s… putting it mildly. It was a straight-up landgrab, a classic war of aggression.

              I think I believe you.

Yeah, that’s a nice comment, and restores my faith in at least some Russians. Thanks. I’d love for the political divisions to just go away so we could actually enjoy each other’s cultures. But as of now, eh.

I most certainly can say that I’ve formed my own opinions, yes. Having them has caused a lot of issues, but yeah, I can definitely say they’re mine and I’m not just “going with it” in I hope anything I do. Well sometimes the thought-out thing is to “go with it” but that’s a whole other issue that’s not relevant politically, as in, I’m talking about using public transport basically, not conforming to fascist political ideologies.

Various other Russians on the platform, take heed

I’m not good with words haha. When it comes to difficult/sensitive things I sometimes fall back to caveman speak more or less (in any language). Sounds like you got what I’m trying to say tho, so whatever :)

song is a banger btw :D

Yeah I think we all do.

What was it I was watching, yeah, Momoa’s new Hawai’i show, and it had a quote in it I found kinda nice: “men practice for war all their lives, yet fear being wrong more than death” or something to that effect.

It honestly do be crazy to me how much humanity is wasting on war.
