The assumption of maleness on lemmy really bothers me. Anyway, I’m just being a bit pedantic. Presumably as a socialist you are in favor of toppling the dictatorship of the bourgeoisie in favor of a dictatorship of the proletariat, no?

I did not assume you were male, I was being obnoxious because of your superfluous response. There’s no pedantry. I have never liked the concept of a dictatorship of the proletariat, and I don’t think that’s relevant to a modern understanding of socialism anyhow.

Sorry, English is not my first language. I did not realize ‘son’ is gender neutral. Anyway yes, the pedantry was mine. Not sure how you have socialism without the workers being in control of the society, but okay.

Son is not gender neutral, but I do use it as such to be silly. I was absolutely being obnoxious. I’m sorry for that.

So here’s the thing. I do believe in workers owning and controlling the means of production, of course, but I do not consider this a dictatorship of the proletariat. It’s very authoritarian in construct, and I don’t share that vision of transition in a democratic context.

I should also note that I don’t think it’s feasible for a proletarian revolution in which there is a powerful state that can be taken over in that manner. The state’s modern monopoly on violence is much more advanced than a hundred years ago.

You do believe in such a thing I take it?
