If you can manage to download your ebooks to your PC, you can use Calibre with a DeDRM plugin to release your Amazon hostages books. But it’s not a very straightforward process.
Calibre can handle a directly plugged in Kindle, no need to copy them to your PC first. I deDRMd them, then was able to just plug in my Kobo and copy all my books to the new device.
Switched to Kobo as part of my general “screw the USA” policy. Threatening Canadian sovereignty will not fly.

Wow! I didn’t know about Kobo! It’s amazing that I’ve never heard of it before.
Since I am following the “fuck the USA” policy, I am not buying my books on Amazon neither. I thought it would be easier with a reader.

I ask because my Kindle library is fairly extensive and giving it up would be uncomfortable to say the least.
