  • As others have said, the general rule is simple: if it no longer runs what you want it to run, upgrade.

For example, I have an Nvidia RTX 2060 GPU. It’s no longer that new, it’s like 5+ years old at this point. But most of the games I play are at least 10 years old—I think the newest, and most graphically intense, game I own is Cyberpunk 2077—and my GPU runs them just fine.

So, why would I spend hundreds of dollars on a new GPU when it’s still wholly functional for my needs?

  • While I agree with everything else you said, I would like to specifically respond to the following part:

Maybe he is considering not everyone is an adult on the platform.

God forbid a child hears the words “shit”, “ass”, or “fuck”. 1) That’s not the end of the world, no matter what conservative parents groups would like people to think, and 2) I guarantee you that 99.999% of children have heard at least 2 out of 3 of those words from television, movies, and elsewhere on the Internet. It’s a word, nothing more, and not that big of a deal.

Again, though, I would like to repeat that I agree with what else you said. I just wanted to respond to this particular part.

    Have a great day!

  • With dumbphones, you’re usually limited to regular phone calls or SMS/MMS messaging.

    That’s kind of the point.

Sure, you can’t do much with them, but by that very fact you also won’t have nearly as much data to be spied on.

Likewise, you can do much more with a smartphone, but that comes with a much higher surface of attack, and you also have to work a lot harder to keep all the data away from spying.
