This is good news, and gotdamn I’ll take my wins where I can get 'em, but just to clarify, its a victory with caveats:

• A warrant or probable cause is enough to use ALPRs
• A subsequent Oklahoma legislative discussion over this matter did not put forth outlining repercussions for violating this new restriction.
• And likely most difficult of all, the 30-day history was what considered it a search. All Flock would need to do is decrease the history to a few days, which is still just as useful for most investigations, for it to not be considered a search. After writing this out, I learnt Flock already had plans to reduce to a 7-day window.

So again, this is a good thing despite these flaws. I’d rather have some limits than none at all, but keep pursuing this. The fight has always been about whether this tech should be allowed or not, not whether or not you need to look suspicious. I can’t help but feel that until a large case at the supreme court happens, our best route is still via legislative endeavors. While its scummy that politicians are only now addressing it when they’re around an election time, it’s still gaining traction nonetheless.

I suppose I should give the full story. I have checked them a few times, and two of which had their maintainers altered. Under the recent AUR attack, I believe that’s been a requirement for malicious alterations to seep in, yet I don’t entirely know what the malicious alterations look like in code. Three of the four packages ship default with CachyOS, with the stray one being added by myself. Conveniently enough, the one I added myself is the one I trust the most and actually feel confident enough in my auditing of.

As for removing unnecessary packages, yeah that’s a fair point. Much as I like Cachy for being an easy-to-use Arch based distro, it does bring a handful of bloat with it. Suppose I’ve just been afraid I’d be removing a dependency.

It is rough that many types of peanut butter contain the sugar content they do. Really deceptive with how significant it builds up to being once put into perspective. I’ve come to interpret a lot of these modern problems and solutions as questions of capital. To sound like a broken record, having as highly capitalist of an economic system as we do creates a lot of these incentives, so much so that I feel the question itself isn’t necessarily a question of climate policy, but rather a question of our relationship between company and government. Partially because we have a cyclical system of: company lobbies for good law -> good law nets company more money -> repeat, but in the direction of environmental policy.

The EPA exists for a reason, the FDA exists for a reason, basically all three letter burecracies exist for a reason, It’s to preserve something that is found to be important. Increasingly though, companies are exerting larger and larger power on government, and that’s serving to pursue their interests, which in many cases means reductions or cuts to these agencies that can get in their way of profits.

This another one of those “AI detector tools” that some teachers try to use for writing, or does this actually scan metadata or a database for its entries?

195 was the original experiment on Reddit. It lasted a year until dissolution (planned from the start) and massively blew up in size during its lifetime. It then spawned 196 after closing, as many people wanted to keep it going and really liked the community. Later down the line, 19684 was made to be exactly like 196, but you couldn’t mention anything sexual, so basically no hornyposting.

Gotta say, I went out to the primaries yesterday to do the whole elect who to elect later thing, and Abdul was the very first lad I went to. Honestly feels refreshing hearing people speaking about some actual leftist values instead of “hurr durr muh corporate donors.” As far as governor goes though, Jocelyn Benson seems alright and at least spouts leftist rhetoric, yet the datacenter policy is a bit concerning. I can see why she adopted it, but I woulda just wanted a bit more in that regard.
