Identify a skill that is in demand and find a way to learn it. That’s the only secret to having an income.
It seems like you rather answer the question than ask it. Have you considered starting a blog?

3·15 days agoWell I don’t know what to tell you friend. I’m as bathed in the blood as they come and this has not been my experience. Consider Proverbs 11:27
“Whoever seeks good finds favor, but evil comes to one who searches for it.”

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Update: My landlord served me a 3 day notice to cure violation or move out over keeping my window open. It's not on my lease. It's not a violation.
31·24 days agoIt doesn’t matter. Unless they are keeping the apartment at an unreasonably high or low temp, then California typically recognizes a landlord’s right to require you to keep the windows closed when the AC is running.

162·25 days agoThis is not legal advice but in California, the landlord of a rooming house (which it sounds like you are in) has the right to make reasonable house rules and “keep the windows closed when the AC is on” is generally recognized as reasonable rule. Its unlikely a court would side with you on this.
Keeping the window open in a room (even with the door shut) impacts the temperature and humidity of the rest of the house. Rooms within a house are not air tight when the door is closed. In fact, the airflow in a house is designed to circulate and mix all the air from all the rooms so that the AC runs efficiently, even when the doors are closed.

1·28 days agoI use Windows Server because that’s what I know. Though I am curious to learn other OSes when I have more time. I don’t use docker so that’s really not a problem for now.

1·1 month agoWow, is your entire website AI generated slop?
When you say a “limited number of devices” do you mean a closed system when you have provisioned all the devices or do you mean you also need to be able to receive calls from standard phones?
To replace a landline you can just use a service like Vonage Home for about $10/month. If you want to setup your own PBX (phone system) for calling your own managed set of devices, then you need more. In any case, you always need a SIP service if you want to make and receive calls with regular phone numbers.
