Taking the Pill has never really been something I considered since I’m not a fan of taking pills outside of medical necessity (exception for ibuprofen because pain sucks). I also kind assumed force blocking it permanently would be really bad for some health reason.

If it’s not though and I can really just deleteit like that… Very much worth looking into. Useful to know!

  • Tyson.

Iirc, largest meat supplier. Which means they are a huge catalyst to the industry that literally profits on death and misery more than any other.

Their products are corpses, their human workers are in the industry with the highest rate of PTSD from their jobs, and by simply existing they’re helping create superviruses by fostering cramped sheds of half-dead animals that can barely move sleeping on their own shit and being kept alive just long enough to slaughter, using powerful antibiotics that will become useless a lot faster than if we used those antibiotics to protect humans instead of giving the perfect environment for viruses to adapt to and overcome them.

Fuck the whole animal agriculture industry, and extra fuck the biggest corps behind them.

  • That I was being complacent to support animal cruelty just because I liked egg salad and cream cheese.

I was vegetarian for 7 years. I thought that only obvious things like meat and leather involved animal cruelty.

I was very wrong. And when people showed me I was wrong, I took a good while to process it. “But the cow needs to be alive for milk. But the chicken needs to be alive for eggs. Surely it’s not THAT bad”.

It’s a lot worse than that bad. Once it fully got through my skull just what kind of cruel practices were involved, not by choice l, but by industry NECESSITY, with the animal products that felt safe, I broke down crying while I was trying to reconcile the fact that I was letting my taste buds drive me to support terrible things.

I did finally quit. These days I don’t really miss much, food wise. And life lesson wise, it helps enable me to be a less unethical consumer. A store/product is involved with something morally terrible, like donating a lot of money to fascism? Welp, bye! No more money for you from me!

  • After all we just witnessed?

Four years stalling courts and avoiding punishment for insurrection, theft of classified documents, etc.

Getting legal permission to break any law he pleases.

Convincing even democrats that tge constitution, specifically the Fourteenth amendment, means nothing and isn’t worth acting on.

Openly planning the worst possible cabinet.

Not having any investigation or action on votes from targeted minorities get Jim Crow’d away.

No recounts when suspicious vote trends are spotted.

    Survival of an assassination attempt.

… Yeah I’m going high. 70% chance minumum if he wants to. He could just order a public hit on the next in line as a presidential act. Clearly no one will stop him.

There should not BE a timeline where he succeeded the second time. The fact that there is implies he can do literally anything he wants.

  • While this isn’t a suggestion, just want to say don’t let other people saying one person doesn’t make a difference discourage you from doing what you can anyway.

“What is any ocean but a multitude of drops”? If a million people each don’t bother because they alone don’t make a difference?

    Similar to the Starfish Story.

    Actual suggestions:

    • Aid education. Lots of illiterate youth is going to be a problem when they can’t even read to research on their own.
    • Encourage increasing plant-based agriculture and the reduction of animal agriculture. Animal agriculture is terrible for the environment, and ironically the “green” version of it is even worse for the environment than factory farming if it were done to scale with the same product output. (Hunting is also not good to promote as an alternative, because if we hunted as much as we eat we would absolutely cause mass extinction very fast.)

I’ve already left any asexual spaces because of how uncomfortably sexual they’d become, and how no one could share an experience of not being sexual without constant reminders of how sex is pretty awesome actually.

A safe space isn’t exactly safe when you’re only kept around to be kicked down.

    Not exactly a Tl;dr but:

The lack of sexual desire can be just as hard or harder to learn about yourself than sexual preference.

We grow up in a world that assumes people will want sex. And anyone who doesn’t is either traumatized and needs help or just hasn’t found the right person yet.

Learning that there are other people who never develop that desire feels so good. It lets you feel, for once, that you’re not broken for not having that. There’s nothing wrong, some people are just like that!

The word for that was asexual.

But lately, asexual has been changed to mean something completely different. It’s still a form of sexual cravings, just in the flavor of microlabels to describe what gives you sexual feelings.

And places where the first group once could connect and joke and vent with each other over experiences of not having sexual desire, now you can’t say anything of the sort without a barrage of people saying “asexuals like sex, too!”

And if you just wanted a safe space to chill with people who share your experience… well, you see it in this thread. You get called a gatekeeping asshole.

So we get forced out of once safe spaces. For wanting a safe space with people we share commonality with. For wanting a simple way to say “Hey, this is how I am, and I’m not broken”.

And with more people identifying as asexual while seeking a sexual relationship, it’s even harder than ever to NOT feel broken. There’s no word for people who just don’t want sex. No word but broken, or “gatekeeping assholes”.

And we’re back to square one. “That’s not normal, you need therapy!” “You just haven’t found the right person yet!” “I bet I can fix you!” “But you’d have sex for ME, right?” “You’re just a late bloomer!”

    And that hurts.

To add a touch of humor to a depressing situation: Why yes, my asshole is gatekept. I don’t want anal sex, either!

Edit to add: It’s not to say others don’t exist or are invalid. They do exist and are valid! It’s about others saying we’re assholes for wanting a safe space to not understand sexual desire together.
