I remember reading somewhere (but I can’t find it now) that they were working on that with incremental improvements in each release.

I’ve been using EndeavourOS for the last 18 months, before that I spent about 9 years on Tumbleweed and before that, I was a inveterate distro hopper. Having spent so long rolling, there’s no way I could go back to fixed.

7·3 months agoI think it’s amazing that humans, who like to give cuddles and fusses, evolved on a planet where almost everything likes cuddles and fusses.
Dolphin sorts them as you want, don’t all file managers?

Linux@lemmy.ml•Will I survive the Linux CLI if I only switch because I'm a student and Arch distro speed?
3·3 months agoThat’s one of them, another is EndeavourOS which is my distro of choice.

13·3 months agoI don’t know about Steam OS but with EndeavourOS, you still have to keep an eye on the Arch news and make any manual interventions that are required. If you don’t, you can end up with a broken system. If you do that, it’s utterly reliable.

1·4 months agoYeah, I’m not defending Manjaro, they are too sloppy for me to do that. Rather EndeavourOS and CachyOS and similar which either give you a working Arch install with minimal effort or add something that may be of value to Arch. That said, the Manjaro distro itself is pretty good, especially if you swap the unstable repos which mirror the Arch ones. Kind of defeats the point of Manjaro though.

4·4 months agoBecause you can setup Vanilla Arch to be exactly like that derivative
There’s the difference, you don’t have to set the derivative up.
Because Gnome Shell is terrible! Or, people just want to use their computer and not have to learn a whole new way to do it. Most desktops understand this.
I generally prefer GUIs, but sometimes the terminal is just easier!
Trinity Desktop is the closest you’ll get.

I used to use the books that came with the software. Now that really was the good old days!
