help-circle

  • At one point, I got into indigenous history. Super interesting stuff, but I had to laugh when I read that they landed in a “new” area. They colonized the shit out of it and the poor mini-humans living there, and had a caste system that was apparently pretty brutal (no social mobility, low caste men were used as human sacrifices). Land was distributed for everyone, and nobody “owned” the land, but when a chief died, everyone got their lands redistributed by the new chief and his cabinet, despite it being “everyone’s land”.

Eventually the people had a massive war and collected all the power into one region, euro-style.

Then, Europeans came and colonized the shit out of them, such is the circle of life. Elsewhere in our region, a separate indigenous group practiced slavery, and would enslave people from raids far and wide too. Until they too were dommed by Europeans.

Anyways, this appears to be a serious chink in humanity’s armor, and it allows us to do some terrible things to each other (See Russia’s invasion and systematic slaughter of civilians in Bucha). It appears to be a crime of indifference and opportunity. We’ve apparently been taking each other’s shit since people apparently had shit to take. :/

  • Well, if there’s one thing that should drive you, it should be getting some form of education or vocational training and forging your own path forward, ideally someplace chill. There’s many places on the west coast where being effeminate is totally normal, and people are totally fine with that. I like it when people get to really be themselves, and I LOVE men who wear cute things. We need more cute apparel!

I also think therapy would genuinely help you. If you put in your location, hit “all filters” and you can choose what type of therapy you want, and there’s also a separate section for Bisexual/Lesbian/LGBTQ+ (even if you are straight, filtering by these might get you a really thoughtful counselor.)

Just to make this post too long, I was in a similar boat coming out years ago. Not quite the same, I think girly stuff is cute, but I also don’t go out of my way to wear it. Anyways, I was really stuck in a rut over sexuality, conflicts with religion, and my confusion with cute women, but also cute men. My life really turned around when I started talking to close friends about what I was going through.

I went deep, no holds barred, we talked hard about everything and life. At the same time, I called my doctor’s office and got a referral for a therapist, who was excellent. That man really helped turn my life around, and recommended the site I linked above. Honestly, his help was all I needed. I’ve met someone I truly love, and everything all worked out in the end.

The hardest part for me was calling that clinic and telling them that I needed help, and why I needed help. It was hard, but life slowly got easier after that.

  • I also have a standing desk, so my wireless receiver is pretty far from the actual PC (on the floor, weighs too much for the desk motors). Latency issues aside, I ditched wireless because I was constantly having to swap/charge batteries in the middle of something important. I’d consider going back, as I’m sure most mice have longer battery life these years. It had “30 day” battery life, but only if you turned it off whenever it wasn’t in use. It got annoying, haha.

Back in uni, I was using a 90s wooden desk with a pull-out mousepad for the g602. There was noticeable lag, which was a bit unfortunate. I only realized that after using someone’s corded no-name mouse from Amazon and was amazed at how responsive it was. Ooof. Even having the receiver close didn’t fix it!

  • I’ll be honest, I mainly keep the same DPI levels. Buuuut, every once in awhile, there’s a few indie titles with really weird sensitivity levels (eg, The Forest) that make having a DPI switch really nice. Some games and productivity programs also benefit from lower or higher DPI profiles on the fly. I’m the type of person that downloads the mouse bloatware once, configures things, then uninstalls it, haha.

  • The razers are really bad this year and I recommend avoiding them completely. Here’s an exhaustive list that just came out six days ago: https://youtu.be/KhfqhCxqpQ8

Generally, I recommend a desktop if he isn’t moving it around that much. They’re upgradable usually, which saves money over rebuying a laptop with new screens, keyboards, power supplies, etc each time.

But if he is moving it around, the Asus TUF laptops, particularly last years models, are pretty decent on the whole. Budget, but solid gaming laptops. Decent specs when I bought mine a few years ago.
