A bunch of people who took the skills and inventory for non-lethal/stralth/hacking gameplay found themselves at boss fights that were straight-up gunfights. If you were kitted out and skilled properly to face-tank while using explosives and big guns, you were just screwed and couldn’t progress.
In subsequent releases, they added additional options in the arenas that allowed you to kill them using stealth and hacking skills.

I can’t decide what I think about Remarkable. They’re a very closed system, which is bad, but the lack of options and apps makes is a better device for people looking specifically not to have distractions.
I use a Boox 10" color e-ink tablet, and am mostly happy with it, though it was pricey.

That’s my issue. I’ve been offered every job I’ve ever interviewed for, but getting the interview is the hard part.
And in the end, the jobs I’ve had have come through that third “who you know” column that got me to the interview.
The big difference is a civil/structural engineer has to individually certify a plan sets and take legal responsibility for it. The project manager can’t override them.
They can fire them and hire another engineer, but even if they found someone to stamp bad plans for a fee, the original engineer could report the new engineer and have their credentials yanked.
We don’t have that in software engineering. And outside of critical software we don’t need it. When the audio fucks up in Teams and you have to leave and re-enter the meeting, people don’t die.
A lot of people’s don’t understand the business of universities. It’s not education.
The students are there as fundraisers. The ones who get scholarships are there to boost the reputation and desirability of the school and/or provide free labor.
Professors have the “publish or perish” rule for the same reason. They work their ass off 40 hours a week all year, but only about 10-15 are directly related to education, and that’s only 30 weeks of the year (38 if they’re also teaching summer courses). The rest of the time they’re doing research to boost the university’s prestige and get those juicy patents and grants.
And once you’ve gone into debt for 20 years to get the degree, they’ll hound you for donations through the alumni foundation until the heat death of the universe.
That’s another reason the manufacturers are increasingly locking vehicle features behind the touchscreen. If you buy a 3rd party replacement, you can’t control the AC.

I stopped ordering tech on Amazon when I got a fraud twice in a month on back-to-back orders a few years back.
First was a laptop that wouldn’t start. I looked at the bottom and the scewes were mostly stripped, and once I got them out most of the components had been removed from the boards.
Second was a Spyder color calibrator. What I got instead was a iPhone 4 screen protector with a sticker slapped on with the UPC for what I’d ordered. When I tried returning it, they gave me flack for slap-tagging a return, but I was able to escalate in that case.
I think part of it has to do with the fact that the jobs don’t require you to speak English. I’ve also seen a decent share of deaf food delivery people for the same reason.
The Zune software could be run on XP. Running that in a VM on a more modern system shouldn’t bee too difficult.
