JFC, win_blows_.
Relax bidey-bro, this thread is about data privacy laws, not general stuff. The only relevant one I’m aware of is DMCA, which was in fact signed into law by Bill Clinton.
lol!
lmao even.
First of all, I just want to acknowledge how humorous the point you’re making is given your name, Zek.
Second, I hear you. What I’m saying is that in the states we have seen a disturbing lack of interest in trust busting over the past 20-30 years, and it’s led to some ridiculous monopolization in some markets. Tech is definitely one area that suffers from this. You’re right that EU regulators could push back on this if they wanted to, but think about what that might mean if nvidia/intel decided to play hardball. We are presently in a golden age of AI where nvidia’s products are basically the mainstay of the entire market…it could really set the EU back competitively if they chose to refuse those products at this particular juncture. I think they would face enormous pressure to simply accept the deal, in this hypothetical.
Don’t be so sure about that.
For real, diabetes and war marches don’t exactly pair nicely.
Only because our “representatives” let them write the law entirely. Imagine if Congress wasn’t filled to the brim with 80 year old fundraisers…
Uh-oh!
Yeah, this is why it’s time we have an honest conversation to seriously consider a 24 hour work week.
Productivity has gone up consistently since the 70s while wages have stagnated. It’s going up at an even faster rate now with AI assistant tooling. Workers deserve to enjoy some of the rewards from that increased output, and I can’t think of a better way than letting them enjoy life more outside of work.

There’s an old adage in computing which really applies here:
Garbage in, garbage out.
😆
I’m in favor of “recall ‘em all”, this rule change could be just the ticket!
Yes, but agree with most of the other comments here. It should be lowered to 65-67 instead.
I’m sorry you had to witness that. I wonder if it’s possible to incentivize conservation, or if the solution would just be regulation with teeth.

I’m a pop_os enjoyer, the window manager is great especially on a small laptop screen. Also have it running in the living room on a media pc (streaming, light gaming, music etc) and it’s been fantastic for that application as well. Excited for the upcoming switch to cosmicDE, think that will be chef kiss for me.
Think they dropped the /s…who doesn’t recognize those lips?!

Trump had 61 court cases alleging election interference and voter fraud, and every last one was immediately thrown out during discovery because he provided no evidence. Thankfully completely bullshit claims do still fall flat in the us justice system.
However, the fake electors scheme was a very real coups attempting to subvert democracy, and we have plenty of evidence on it. I’d love for Harris to appoint an aggressive AG who will work tirelessly to ensure this doesn’t happen again because of the consequences for treason.
