I inherited a fish over a year ago and now I’m obsessed with aquatic animals. Aquatic snails are super cool and I’ve started breeding them to resell. Y’know, until next year when I find something cooler. Love that ADHD life

This comment made me realize that English needs a word for “sequel to a sequel”
Last time I saw a good juggalo joke was Juggalos for Mitt. And that was like 2008

I can’t tell if you’re farming downvotes or actually mad lol

For the latter part, it very much depends on the state and the disability.
In terms of helping, there are a few scenarios. First, forced psychiatric hospitalization. Suddenly, it’s no longer a “secret” problem with the brother. It’s known and he’d have a record in a court system and medical records. Extremely unlikely, but not impossible, is removing OP to a stable program. People with disabilities who have confirmed cases of abuse jump to the top of those waitlists. There are also many “light” versions of those scenarios that still make things, even slightly, better.

You’d be surprised at the number of times I thought it would be obvious and it wasn’t. In fact, it seemed pretty rare that people could figure it out. And even when they did, it was just their hunch, you can never know for sure who reported you.

Ouch, someone is mad that I made a joke.
Come on, it’s just moving, what could it cost? All your friends and possessions? $10?

Any therapist or licensed professional (doctor, social workers, etc) will have to report something if it’s a credible threat to someone’s life. If your brother has homicidal ideations and makes threats, an investigation might not be terrible. Unless he literally never leaves the house and you are the only person that would know he’s ever made a threat, then your family will probably never know that you have anything to do with this. Strangers call the cops when they hear shit. If he’s loud, it could be a neighbor. Unless he’s agoraphobic, it could be anyone in your town who reported something weird.

“Why can’t you just leave and buy a house or something” is the most Lucille Bluth question ever. You didn’t have to dignify such a stupid question with an answer. This isn’t your fault.

As someone who was a mandated reporter and made a sad amount of reports, the investigators aren’t idiots. They don’t knock on your door and say “hi, your kid reported that you hit them!” They know the risk and it is literally their entire life/job to avoid making situations worse.

It’s not. It’s off topic and should be deleted
Edit: can we please stop upvoting everything that insults Reddit? If you are defined by hating your ex, you need a new personality.
It wouldn’t be enough, unfortunately. The inquiries we get are all over the place. “I would love to do a couple hours on a Tuesday evening” and then “can I come in Saturday during the day?” Not enough to justify an off hours supervisor. It would basically be a full time employee but they’d work a super random schedule.
The sad truth is that retirees tend to be the most reliable volunteers. Just because we get people interested doesn’t mean they stick around/come regularly. And I don’t blame them. I work full time and having to commit to something else after work seems daunting.
I work at a non-profit and it’s a shame. We get a lot of people asking for nights and weekends but it’s hard to coordinate volunteers then because our volunteer office is a 40 hour a week office. they aren’t around after hours to supervise volunteers, so we don’t really have volunteers then.
With that being said, look into general volunteerism clubs, like Rotary. They often are geared towards people who work full time.

Operation Ivy and Rancid have more members in common than some bands that keep the same name over a couple decades.
Funny you said Dead Milkmen. Can’t say I’ve ever met anyone outside of Philly who considers them more than a one hit wonder

Hot takes? If OP wanted to try a hot take, they could try something not from the 2001 MRA handbook.
If I have valuable info and I want to share it in a controlled way, I can use an API. If i am an airline, I could spit out a feed that tells you a list of flights and how delayed they are. If im Reddit, I can share posts, comments, etc.
Anyone (in the case of a free API) can take the data the API spits out and make their own app with it. But if you charge for API access, then someone would have to pay to make an app with your information.

Nothing. Space is a value. Even worst case scenario, put all your money in a savings account and you get at least 1% in a HYS during shitty times. That’s better than shelling out all your money now for items that will probably cost the same in a few years

For the record Jonestown didn’t use real Kool Aid
Definitely not okay. And it depends on your definition of “normal”. Is it common? Somewhat. Going as far as to say “kill yourself” usually isn’t part of it but insulting someone after being rejected isn’t rare. It depends a bit on the age.
