  • Hold on, yes we do want every community to exist on lemmy and the fediverse.

If all that people see are memes, technology, games, asking questions, politics and news all of the time that’s available. They won’t help grow the fediverse. The purpose of the fediverse is to offer people platforms to get them off the shit-world that centralized social media has become.

So if we have nothing else to offer them but those things, of course the fediverse won’t grow.

  • I’ve made a playlist of an old show I used to have listened to when they’ve made new episodes. They haven’t made new episodes since 2012 to record.

Compiling a playlist, I’ve found that with every season they made combined, is a total of 8 days worth of recorded material. But I’ve listened to the show so much, it is white noise to me and sometimes I do catch something I haven’t heard before. It’s interesting.

I wanted to get into baking more a time ago, but my apartment management has RUB charges and my oven is operated by gas. so, it’s hard for me to know how much I’m paying when I’m not only paying for my usage, but I’m paying for the usage of others in the building because of the RUB system. I hate it so I haven’t used my oven in two and a half years straight.

  • Hair and dust are like the most difficult things to keep your home or apartment clean from. Because dust accumulates just by what is in the air, it’s inescapable. The best you can do is just grab cleaners that’ll at least postpone it a little but you’re always going to get dust. Hair, same deal, you’re always going to get hair somewhere, find hair somewhere or whatnot.

Just got to accept some things are impossible to keep clean for long periods. Just focus on what you can clean, give things a wipe down at least and call it good.

  • We all know that person…

And that person is the most obnoxious one to have around. They’re the people who on YouTube, would create lego reenactments of the scenes from that movie and everything. It’s like their entire form of communicating is just being quirky set to 11 and making numerous quotes from anything they’ve watched and heard.

  • I suppose that all wouldn’t be so bad if the “Christmas season” didn’t stretch out for so long. It’s now well underway before Thanksgiving, and I’m being conservative with that. That means at least 10% of the year - so 10% of my life, too - is spent under the Christmas regime.

Oh it’s gotten worse. Where I work, like at mid-October right when Halloween is around, we already sectioned off an entire part of the store for christmas stuff. So it’s no longer not even before Thanksgiving, it’s before Halloween now.

  • Because it is all manufactured now.

When you were a kid, you were excited the moment you sniffed that November air as the seasons were starting to transition. That unexplainable feeling to know that soon, Christmas was coming. And you were waiting and waiting for it to come. December rolls around, every week, you got excited, you saw people put up their decorations and saw them. You saw all of the planned christmas specials. Your school had christmas themes, you anticipated snow days and more.

    It felt festive and great.

Now you’ve grown up and eventually that magic is gone. If you work retail, you will hate this time of year or any job that doesn’t give you the holidays off. People are fighting with eachother about whose family is coming to see whom, familial drama. You wonder what the point is having so many decorations on someone’s house is, worrying about what electric bill they’d have lighting all of that up. You fret every day as to what you get your loved ones, whether they’d even like it or not. You may be too broke to get something. Random shit happens to you, you hate driving on snow and the ice.

All the while everything feels forced, the music is repetitive, the specials are repetitive, capitalism is telling you what to do with your time and your money. All of that magical feeling is just…gone.
