They’re all cute to someone.
(Not me, I have crippling arachnophobia)
Is it really? I remember Mt.'Hope being more flat, but I’ve only gone to the side with the tennis courts and the soccer field (for anyone that doesn’t know, the University of Rochester and a bunch of it’s facilities are right next to Mt. Hope, a sort of cemetery/public park hybrid).
The human urge to domesticate anything that is slightly cute
STOOOOOPP THIS IS CURSED KNOWLEDGE 😭😭
DO NOT BRING OMEGAVERSE TO LEMMY PLEASE THIS IS MY SAFE SPACE 😭
Even Haru’s billionaire ass can’t afford all these subscriptions 😭
Nothing, that’s what I’m trying to say. All the “sports” I listed have some sort of skill expression that can be judged. Why is break dancing less worthy? Should skateboarding also not have been included? Why is making a horse hop around to music considered a “real sport”?
It’s all arbitrary.
Eh, painting and chess used to be Olympic sports. Shooting/air rifle still is. Break dancing requires more physicality than all of those.
I don’t particularly care about gatekeeping what activities are added/subtracted to the Olympics, as long as it’s competitive and entertaining to watch.
Mm, you’re not wrong about the originality, especially considering it’s given equal weight with the other four categories (the scoring is another issue here I could go on about). I guess in the judges eyes her “original” moves didn’t have anything to do with breaking (like the T-rex thing? That was odd…), so it was irrelevant to the judgement.
I can only speak for my own interpretations though.
No, I think the score of 0 is fair, because imo her Olympics performance was straight up trolling. If you watch any of her previous performances (like her Olympic qualifiers) she’s actually pretty decent. Comparing those to what she did at the Olympics honestly felt like BM to the entire artform.
My take was that she pushed breakdancing into the human consciousness significantly more than anyone in history ever has
Interesting thought exercise, but a WILD take. Notoriety shouldn’t be considered the same as actual accomplishment. Otherwise, John Wayne Gacy should be considered the best clown of all time.
Phil Kim/Phil Wizard (the gold medalist) is a pretty accomplished breaker/bboy.
Not pointed at you OP, but it kind of pisses me off how this lady got more attention than the actual breakers and medalists the Olympics.
It’s much cheaper for you to buy a disk PS5 and install an M.2SSD yourself (up to 8TB), it’s incredibly easy, and Sony has a page/videos on how to do it yourself.
I’ve seen disk PS5 go on sale as low as $400USD at big box retailers, presumably to make shelf space for the pros. The used marketplace is there as well.
Hell yeah, time to be sad with best girl!
The PS3 was a 64 bit (I think) custom PowerPC processor.
Thanks for jogging my memory, I completely forgot how different the PS3 architecture is compared to the other PlayStations and also the 360. Same reason why emulation for it is so hard (and why MGS4 has no modern ports 🥲)
FOR NO DISC DRIVE
I agree. One of the few reasons I still stuck to consoles is because I could buy the physical games and have it on my shelf forever. That’s going the way of the dinosaurs, and while I love that things are more accessible via Steam or whatever, I can’t let my friends borrow my games, or pass it along to someone else to enjoy if I didn’t like a game as much.
I also just love collecting and displaying game cases and steelbooks and stuff. That’s rarely a thing anymore, either.
Yeah, idk why Ps4 has no backwards compatibility. PS3 (fat) was backwards compatible with PS 1+2, and PS5 is backwards compatible for PS4. I didn’t buy a PS4 for that exact reason, and was lucky enough to get my hands on a PS5 during launch to play all the PS4 games I missed.
With all the niche Japanese games I like slowly coming to PC, I probably won’t buy a new console ever again. (As an aside, if anyone has a spare fat PS3 they’re willing to sell for parts…)
Ooh, you may be right. I also don’t have that set up.
