Mods please tell me if I should post this somewhere else.

This dude is a mod at !globalnews@lemmy.zip (even though they are not listed there as mod) and !apple@lemmy.zip (same thing, they aren’t a mod there either)

My modlog does say I was banned by this person, and no reason is stated. This person is ignoring my DM / has blocked me? I genuinely don’t remember even posting there as they are relatively small communities, and I’m not subscribed to them. I saw one post on global news today in my All feed and tried to upvote it, and that’s how I discovered.

Now I’m seeing in this persons post history that they are some kind of lemmy.zip admin of some instance possibly.

So I’m seeing to know if this person is almighty as an instance admin, and can just ban people in any community on that instance or if this could be some kind of automod mistake.

    Good, then you won’t see it even if I hit you with it. It’s not about another account, it’s about how the admins can do this without accountability.

    You may win the upvote contest, but your claims are incorrect.

    • the modlog doesn’t fully federate, the reasons are instance only.
    • there is shaddowbanning, as effectively again, due to the poorly designed federated model, intra-instance bans are not communicated to the user until they attempt to interact with the community/instance where they are banned.

    It’s always interesting to read people who are not concerned about this. You must live very different lives. And the automatic upvoting of that line of thought and the downvoting of any kind of pushback is just hilarious. Some days it feels like Reddit is more progressive than whatever this is.

      You are insane dude, it is about another account. The admins are running this at their own cost for their own purposes. If you don’t like it, set up your own instance. I used to run Vegan Theory Club and it got super annoying dealing with people like you so now I use my friends instance. No issues. We don’t even have downvotes enabled here.

      Sounds like you have a problem that won’t ever be resolved reasonably. You are upset that you don’t have authority, too bad. Set up an instance and communities and do your own thing if that is what you want.
