Yep. When I looked up the term, I got this summary:
Tofu dreg is a Chinese slang term, literally meaning “tofu residue,” used metaphorically to describe poorly constructed buildings or infrastructure that are structurally unsound and prone to collapse. The phrase was first coined by former Chinese Premier Zhu Rongji in 1998 during a visit to Jiujiang City, Jiangxi Province, where he criticized flimsy flood defenses as being "as weak as tofu dregs."
Worker and civilian safety is not a priority in China, it’s shocking the amount of footage of unsafe working conditions there is, so many factory deaths are due to literally no guardrails. Yet Tankies, supposed communists, don’t give a shit about worker rights.
This is what most of China’s rapid construction projects end up being.
Well, I think I found the logic behind the boot. Wildly different to say construction standards are a problem than to conclude the majority of buildings are defective and dangerously prone to collapse.
At the same time, you’ll have western media insisting the draconian Chinese police state is cruelly persecuting businessmen in the country.
Guo Wengui is a great example - a man who turned “Exiled Persecuted Chinese Businessman” into a cottage industry, bouncing from cable news show to right-wing radio program to complain about the villainous evil far-left authoritarian communist police state that was harassing him illegally for fake crimes he’s falsely accused of. And then he gets caught running scams in the US using the same modus operandi Chinese prosecutors sought him out over.
Worker and civilian safety is not a priority in China
This is flatly untrue, particularly since the Xi administration began cracking down on corruption at the municipal level nationwide. But it is routinely asserted that instances where corruption and malfeasance occur are “normal”. Meanwhile, instances where the police investigate and arrest corrupt and incompetent administrators are “persecution”.
It’s “heads-China-bad” / “tails-China-bad”.
What we are dealing with is a nonfalsifiable orthodoxy, so assiduously marketed by the ruling interests that it affected people across the entire political spectrum.”
Can you maybe make a post actually engaging with criticism rather than making a bunch of strawmen and talking about right wing grifters in an effort to delegitimize any criticism of China?
You only get called a wumao if you parrot the official CCP line and never accept criticism of China or see any criticism as not legitimate. Also trying to paint China and it’s government as flawless or deflecting any criticism to “what about the US on the topic” instead of actually addressing it will also get you called a wumao.
You aren’t exactly making yourself credible so far.
You only get called a wumao if you parrot the official CCP line
Anything that isn’t reactionary propaganda against China is “the official CCP line”. You can say the most inane shit about their high speed rail network or post pretty pictures from the fucking Panda Sanctuary and it’s CCP propaganda.
Also trying to paint China and it’s government as flawless or deflecting any criticism
You’re just proving my point. How can you engage in any kind of serious discussion when the rebuttal is “You think China is perfect!” and “Stop talking about non-China countries for comparison!”
How do you have a serious discussion when even the most minor concession is met by “So you admit China Bad! I win!” Nevermind when there’s actual criticism rather than paranoid bullshit, and its just ignored because it doesn’t sound critical enough.
Proving your point? You are literally angry that no one is gonna let you argue in bad faith by deflecting arguments away from criticism of China when there are legitimate concerns about how things in China goes. Because the US is shit, doesn’t mean China can use that as a standard. Setting the bar so low is why you suck at debating.
Surprising considering tofu dreg projects are well known in China.

Yep. When I looked up the term, I got this summary:
This is what most of China’s rapid construction projects end up being. And that’s only the stuff that’s uncensored or managed to escape censorship.
The Chinese government even regularly suppresses media and the populace from finding out about the lacklustre building standards throughout China.
Worker and civilian safety is not a priority in China, it’s shocking the amount of footage of unsafe working conditions there is, so many factory deaths are due to literally no guardrails. Yet Tankies, supposed communists, don’t give a shit about worker rights.

Might also be noted that this isn’t something that’s gone unaddressed. Police in China arrest 9 people linked to Changsha building collapse that left dozens missing

-Michael Parenti, Blackshirts and the Reds
There have been roughly 245 Chinese building collapse accidents in the construction industry between 2015 and 2018 in China, resulting in the deaths of 451 people. And that’s only what’s allowed to be reported on and what isn’t censored. China and India are much further ahead in building collapses than the rest of the world, because their standards are lacklustre, prioritising speed over safety.
Never said the majority of their buildings, only the construction they build fast.
Ah, the resident troll
Bing chilling
bruh weren’t you just bitching about, I quote:
come on
And, lo and behold, people came screaming out of the woodwork
It’s been 12 hours, dude and the planet’s a big place. Do you want me to show you who upvoted me if that’ll help at all?
Is this English?

Sadly, any serious analysis is meet with “Wumao Bot Tankie” on reflex.
More than two word of a post that don’t begin “China Bad” bounce right off the mental deflector dish reactionaries shelter under.

Nothing “Bad Faith” about it. You’re presented with facts, you reject them for propaganda.
The conversation dead ends as people downvote anything that rattles their priors.
Because the US is ideological, you reject that any other county might be doing better.
you dont like being a tankie?
Honestly, I wonder how many actual wumaos exist on .ml
