So this will be my first time getting drunk drunk, and my friend is a year older than me and has done it several times before. I could have him watch me, but there may be a chance that he’d be high/drunk too, so what are some things to watch out for and consider during my first time getting drunk if I’m able to go to his house?
-
Dont do drugs with people you don’t trust.
-
If you think someone is going to try to get handsy . Make it very clear before drug use that you say no. (Or yes if that’s your choice). But make the decision sober and verbally say it.
-
Don’t mix drugs. Including alcohol.
-
Educate yourself on the substances. Safe and appropriate dosage. And expectations of effects, and how long it will last.
-
Be an adult before taking drugs.
If you are a teenager. Honestly it’s not worth it. It puts you at high risk for assault and criminal activity. It also has more damaging effects on your brain.
Just hold off.
- If you are with others who do drugs and you don’t want to . You can always say “not my thing, no thanks”
“Tried it before and didn’t care for the effects”
If they are persistent “Bro, respect my decision. I said it’s not my thing”
“I’m taking meds that don’t mix with it. It could literally put me in a coma or the hospital”.
- Avoid people who pressure you. Definitely don’t hang out with them again. Your time and attention is valuable. Don’t give it to those undeserving who dont respect your autonomy.
-
Don’t take MDMA or cocaine while drinking, it’s toxic and you will likely blackout, especially on the molly. Never take benzos while drinking, it’s a waste of benzos and you will definitely black out and potentially even die.
Hallucinogens generally don’t mix with alcohol, although some people claim LSD and a couple drinks go well together.
Cannabis will intensify your tipsiness when drinking. It is or used to be called being “cross-faded”. If you are going to smoke cannabis and drink, smoke first as it will regulate how much alcohol you consume.
Lastly it’s important to remember how alcohol works. The fun chemicals in your brain get produced as your BAC increases. To have the most fun, less negative side effects you stretch your alcohol out over your drinking period. So let’s say you plan to have six drinks over 4 hours. You will enjoy the experience much more if you have two drinks for the first 3 hours, rather than taking 4 shots in the first hour and then two drinks after it. Once the BAC stops rising the fun stops and you are left with mostly negatives of dizziness, fogginess and possibly nausea.
Some drugs you should absolutely not be getting drunk with. Do your research to ensure it’s safe. Other drugs I kinda just wouldn’t bother. I’d say either get high or get drunk, both seems like overkill. I’d pick getting high so you don’t feel like shit the next day but you do you.
Take it slow, keep hydrated, have food and snacks available. Don’t do shots, don’t try and rush it
Your circumstances are different, but consider the lyrics to the song “Almost Summer” by Jason Collett for a typical experience… https://youtu.be/xVnF0GsiwoY
Do it only in a safe environment. Eat a lot of pickles. Eat constantly. Don’t try to push alcohol until you hit the limit. Just push it a bit further than usual. There’s no need to blindly go for it all. Drink at least half a litre of water before allowing you to go to sleep.
If you need to vomit, just do it. It’s better than trying to keep it in.
Eat a lot of pickles.
I have never seen or heard of that before, and I’m an almost 40 year old Dane. We have a pretty widespread drinking culture.
Snacks are nice while drinking, but most here go for crisps, nuts or similar.
If you have friends from the Slavic countries like poland, ask them. They will confirm ;) The belief is that the electrolytes help and the salt makes you drink more (hopefully water). However, studies don’t really support this (though there aren’t many).
Pacing yourself is key. As you get tipsy and feel good, the tendency will be to feel “yeah, let’s have another and feel this even more!” and to drink more before what you’ve already drank has taken effect.
Drinks on an empty stomach will hit you faster. And be more likely to upset your stomach. Drinking with food is generally a better experience, but because this slows your absorbtion, you need to pace yourself even more.
But if the drinking does get away from you and you start to feel sick, let yourself throw up. You will feel better for it.
- Esteja perto de pessoas que você confia quando for usar, em especial alguém que vai estar sóbrio.
- Busque sobre as drogas que você pretende consumir, quando mais você souber, melhor
- Evite misturar
stay hydrated
Yeah — on the rare occasion that I have a night out, when I get home I drink more water than I need to not feel thirsty (about two glasses). Alcohol makes you dehydrated and when you wake up in the morning that makes a hangover massively worse.
Personally I find hangovers worse than the enjoyment of getting drunk, so typically won’t have more than 2/3 drinks anyway \o/
And don’t drink spirits. Keep your drinks to lower alcohol percentages (e.g. beer) so you can control your intake and moderate how quickly you get drunk and how drunk you get.
And if you start to notice you’re struggling with basic motor skills (using your hands, walking, standing, etc) it’s time to stop and switch to water. And maybe eat some carbohydrates and fats.
Exactly. Spirits can kill you and you have to try reeeaally hard with beer
thx!!
Do one or the other, not both.
solid advice. it’s pretty easy to get the spins if you are not used to this combination or either of the drugs. if you absolutely must, go very slow.
Drink water, eat food, pace yourself
First of all if you’re a girl, make sure you trust your male friend. (Unless genders are not an issue here). Secondly, like others in the comments said, pace yourself, keep hydrated, stick to low alcohol drinks like beer, don’t turn it into a challenge or a show-off of how much you can drink or smoke. Thirdly avoid driving. And last but not least, have fun and hope you don’t puke a lot. Cheers!
the name blackwitch makes me think it’s a girl, but who knows- i’d definitely like to reiterate what you’re saying there about trust- a significant number of men have absolutely no problem getting women too drunk to deny consent in the moment
Yup, it’s a common thing that happens everywhere, even between friends, especially when they’re young/immature and have not been taught how to behave and treat others with respect and civility.
Be sure to take a little walk after a few drinks. It’s easy to be feeling good while sitting down and drinking, and then feel way to drunk once you stand up and move around.
Pace your drinks and don’t have to many too quickly. I like to keep to two or three drinks an hour if I wana cut loose and have fun without feeling like death later. This will vary from person to person so maybe keep it to two drinks since your not used to being drunk drunk.
Have lots of water.
Getting high after getting drunk is a fast way to get the spins. Don’t do this. It’s not fun.
Eat before you drink.
Your first one or two drinks are to get you drunk. After those wait half an hour for your system to absorb all the alcohol, then take a moment and reassess. Is this comfortable? Do I feel sick? Can I get up and walk around? Am I aware of my surroundings?
If you feel good but noticeably drunk then slow way down, this is when you need to switch from getting drunk to staying drunk. Alternate alcoholic drinks with water to stay hydrated.
First you should know that both weight and gender matters for how much alcohol you can tolerate. Males can take more alcohol than women - perhaps 20% more. The heavier you are the more you can take as well - twice the weight takes roughly twice the alcohol. Don’t just drink the same amount as the experienced people you are with, but consider those factors so it doesn’t get out of hand.
Second, know that you will keep getting more drunk for a while (maybe 30-45 minutes) after you stop drinking. If the room starts spinning, take a break even if you feel like you can take more. And don’t be afraid to say no if people try to push you. It would be a shame if the evening ends early for you because you get sick.
As far as the weed goes there isn’t much to worry about. It is impossible to overdose. It will slow your mind for a day or two though, so don’t do it up to an exam or things like that.
Finally, have fun! 😊
Remember it takes 30+ minutes for the alcohol to hit your system. Especially if you have a stomach full of food.
What that means for drinking is stop early!! Stop way before you start to feel woozy, or you’re in for a bad time. Especially if it’s anything harder than beer.
Also, mixing alcohol and weed makes the effects a lot stronger. If you mix both heavily, don’t be shocked if you feel like zonking out. Also don’t do both heavily.
Good advice here.
The faster you drink, the drunker you get and the longer it takes to sober up. Your liver doesn’t hurry things along just because you were dumb. It’s a linear processing speed. And don’t take any meds that dunk on your liver either. No acetaminophen/paracetamol.
And when your liver is busy with alcohol, it isn’t doing glucose (fat metabolism things) management. You’re likely to have low blood sugar if you don’t eat after drinking.
For weed: maybe you’ll be unfortunate like me and have a vasovagal syncope response (fainting). Alcohol enhances the effect.
