I got this tune stuck in my head earlier today, and I’m pretty sure it’s a guitar solo. However, I cannot remember anything more than the particular motif in the linked .m4a, and I’m not even sure about the accuracy of what little I remember. The pitch might be way off too.
While I recorded this on an unplugged electric, the guitar tone that comes to mind is a distorted one with some heavy flanger and phasing effect, similar to what Kurt Cobain/Nirvana use on some songs. This causes me to believe it might be from a 90’s alt rock or grunge song.
EDIT: Alternatively a very bottom heavy sound with loads of sustain, typical of the psychedelic era/genre.
I feel that this is a song I’ve heard a million times before, but it’s been a while, so I’m sure if someone identifies it for me I will immediately go “of course, why didn’t I think of that!”
To summarize, I’d wager it’s from a song released between 1990 and 2010. Most likely in the rock or metal genre.
EDIT: mp3 version, for those who can’t digest .m4a
EDIT: At first I thought it was Nirvana - Come as You Are, but that’s not it. Tempo and groove kinda matches, though.
UPDATE: Found it! It’s a tiny outro solo of Type O Negative - Black No. One (extended version), released 1993, and can be heard for a few bars after 8:57 and onwards.

Reminds me of the opening rift to Pink Floyd’s Wish You Were Here, based off your recording. Doesn’t quite feature the grunginess you mention.
