I need a local model without espionage, which can translate text into several languages and not heat up my hardware too much, since computers are getting more expensive now.

Mozilla made a local translation model for Firefox. I believe there’s a few free apps which use the model to use it standalone.

Firefox had an inbuilt translator engine assuming you don’t need OCR.
It can be a bad idea, and how do I know that firefox doesn’t leak everything I’ve translated?
