Honestly, the Lemmy side of things is doomed to fail, because the developers are explicitly pro-Russian tankies and the instance owners either support them directly or indirectly, in World’s case it is directly. Eventually Piefed will overtake them and they will death spiral.
Either they’re pro-tankie or too chickenshit to walk away from them. I used to mod a few of the larger comms on .world. And because of this I was privy to a lot of the mod/admin discord drama.
The .world admins are scared to lose the traffic. It was discussed. They’d rather align with pedo-defending authoritarian bootlickers than do the right thing by disassociating from them. And most of the mods all bow to a few of the louder ones with regards to how things should be handled.
That’s one of the many reasons I walked away from that bullshit. It’s no different than Reddit moderation with these people. Only it’s a different badge pinned on the the same over-inflated ego’s chest.
