Just deleted reddit and working on getting off of facebook. I’m actually glad to be here. It’s a bit of an adjustment but I think it’s for the better. Cheers everyone.

    It’s easier to choose and curate for oneself. Blocking comms actually works (even if blocking instances or users doesn’t). I don’t see any tankie comms anymore, even if I still have to argue with .ml users in comments on other threads.

    And even though mods can ban from communities or instances, no automated admin bots can give you a site-wide ban over petty reasons. I can say I hate nazis without getting my entire IP banned for “hate speech”…

          The admins literally administer the instances. Many of them directly running the instances on hardware they pay for. Even if the API didn’t allow it, they could just directly delete your user record from the DB.

              Well getting your account that you groomed up for who knows how long nuked is pretty damn close. Especially if you’re a main contributor to a comm or two and all that work disappears.

                This is why people use vpns and act like jerks… potty mouths and people with strong opinions get nuked. Life has cold hard realities and people lack framework to have opinions. There are more of them than me. I call this phenomenon “The Turd Herd” If I wasn’t broke as a joke I would have a instance and let people run wild. No pedos No violence but a simple insult meh I don’t care. Mods get their fee fees hurt. I am tired of the incestuous hug boxes. Also known as circle jerks

                Also, that doesn’t change the fact that no instance admins can ban your IP across the whole fediverse, so it’s still not as bad as reddit…
