Obviously, the internet has always been a toxic place, (the phrase “flame war” has been around for decades,) but it seems to have gotten so much worse over the last few years. I used to think decentralization of the internet would fix the worst of it, but Lemmy seems to have gotten worse alongside the rest of internet culture, proving me wrong. How do we fix/improve this culture of toxicity?

        Yeah it’s like the famous paradox of tolerance, you must not tolerate intolerance

        Same way you gotta defend your freedoms from those trying to take them away from you, even if in doing so you end up violating theirs.

          And like all thugs, you hide behind theoretical bullshit to justify your horrible actions and beliefs as for the ‘greater good’.

          And if you found yourself on the receiving end of the violence you propose, I don’t think you’d be so eager about it.
