It was good, but the end credits shouldn’t have played scenes from Fury Road. Outside of that, it mostly tells a distinct story that happens to be set in the same universe. The movie stands better on its own.
Yeah, that was weird and smelled like a studio mandate (remind people once more that this is a prequel!).
Which may explain why we get the concept of the “First History Man” here as GM’s way out of a studio mandate. Truth be told, the franchise has ALWAYS felt like tales handed down, mostly because 2 and 3 followed Joseph Campbell to a T.
I really liked that aspect and kinda wish all Mad Max movies had been framed that way. That would certainly explain why Max is a very different man in Fury Road. (Hardy played him as traumatized loner, while Gibson always managed to give him a wry sense of nihilist humour.)
so correct
Watched Fury road for the billionth time last night. God it’s good. Doesn’t set out to be anything it shouldn’t be; delivers what you want. Not too much dwelling on the past, no shoehorned romances. Just fast and fun.
More and more, people outside of Australia are learning about the first Mad Max movie
Watched it for the first time following Furiosa. I’ve seen fewer seeders on new releases.
It’s also available on hbo max.
HBO Max doesn’t exist in Australia. It’s on Stan, Foxtel Now and Amazon Prime here.
Yet they will still never truly be Beyond Thunderdome.
I need a Mad Max type movie, that is set in a post-apocalyptic Austria.
Like after the holocaust?
Mad Maximillian: the slope warrior. He can only go down hill for so long before he must fight his way up the lift.
dankpod is rapidly approaching your house at 325 K/ph
Added a jet engine to Tony to go that fast.
frog is angy
TF2 but it’s inverted (he is the only one that can be trusted with a motor vehicle)
The first Mad Max was based on scarcity matters that have also demonstrated itself here in the States. (I remember the long lines and even-odd rationing during the 1970s OPEC cartel and gas crisis.)
The whole point of Mad Max was yes, we’ll get kooky about our cars when scarcity hits and everyone goes spooky.
WhenAs the climate crisis starts chewing on the big agriculture machine that feeds us, Mad Max will serve as a good model for what’s going to happen, only with fewer cars and more cannibalism.Famine really sucks, and the international community are bastards for allowing shit to get bad in Gaza.
Eh Fury Rd and its prequel should’ve been a different series. It’s uninspired seppo shit at this point.
I was pretty miffed when I realised “gas town”'s primary export was petrol and not, you know, gas.
Gas like guzzoline?
Does it matter they really don’t have much of a continuity and Furiosa sorta establishes it as myth
