I assume you’re posting because you want people to see what you post. (Otherwise why would you post?) So I was just giving you a helpful suggestion that most people won’t read an ultra wide screenshot. The majority of web traffic comes from people on mobile devices. Even in landscape view it’s way too wide to read reasonably, and essentially no one is gonna run some image to text processing on some random post.

If you’re interested in people seeing what you post then i would suggest either making the browser window small before you screenshot it, and/or copy n paste the text into your post.

      Just a friendly suggestion

Yeah, I don’t get it. I just turned my wrist 90 degrees. It didn’t seem like a big deal, so I thought maybe my client is just awesome. Opened Lemmy in a browser, same thing. If my old ass can figure it out…

Is your screen 14 inches tall? Even in landscape mode you’d have to flick the screen back and forth and back and forth and back and forth…

I think I’m understanding this comment correctly. There’s a known bug with Blorp where the feed skips around when the screen size changes. I assumed people wouldn’t change their screen size often, but this long image is actually a great reason to rotate your phone.

I don’t have the bandwidth in this release, but I should work on stabilizing it so it doesn’t skip around when you rotate.

Pixel 7, Boost app, I click on the image, rotate, and it’s quite readable. Firefox was basically the same.

I guess it would be different if my near sight was bad and I do sympathize with people that are having trouble. Maybe it’s not a bad thing to encourage more narrow screenshots or, as in the case of many communities, encouraging textual captions for images.

Ask me again in a couple years once I’m past 50 and I may have different answer.
