I’ve wanted to make something like this for a while, so I’m glad it’s on the market. However, you’re limited to just 5 tools plus a bit driver. Lots of interesting tools to choose from though. If the tool count rivaled a medium sized Victorinox with the same form factor, I’d consider it.

I’m glad to see a company doing this. I plan to pick up the Flex Modular (with the pliers) this fall.

The other cool thing about this system is that you can, in theory, build a small multi-tool that is TSA friendly. YMMV of course based on how the TSA agents feel that day.

It’s not quite for me either, but I’m glad they’re continuing to iterate on their design and offer more options. Seems like good value for $50!

Victorinox could really just kill all the competition for me if they just replaced the rivets under their scales with screws.

It’s not a SAK though. The tools are bigger and more sturdy, you can flick the knife, and there’s a tool deployment mechanism. I’d say it’s more comfortable over all.

However, you’re limited to just 5 tools plus a bit driver.

5 slots, some tools take up more than 1.

Fair. The question is do I want to give up ~30 tools in my SAK in exchange for ≤5 sturdier tools and easier deployment? Personally, no. Excited to see how the Flex Companion evolves though.
