Saying that religion is only about money and control is like saying “computer games are all about violence”
Both are ignorant statements.
Evil people have attained great power. These people aren’t Christians, yet they pretend they are. These people prey on the poorly educated and the mentally ill.
Pretending to be Christian is just one of the tools in their arsenal.
Sincerely,
A Christian of 5 years who for 40 years was an extremely cocky atheist.
Christians are a core MAGA demographic, like it or not. Christianity is a violent terrorist hate group, and always has been.
Sure they do nice stuff now and then, but so do all evil people and organizations. Escobar built schools and churches, Hitler liked dogs and children, who fucking cares? None of their token good works offsets the evil they have done, and continue to do, and that includes ALL religions.
Yep, Christianity has been a scourge on humanity for 2000 years. Not going to resolve that issue today. I got MAGAs to deal with before they get as entrenched and as hard to dislodge as Christianity
It is all about money and control. You cannot argue any other way. That is what religion does. It may not be what it evolves into exactly, and it may not be what the believers even want.
But there is no denying it, every modern example is this way without exception. You think people in the past were any different? You think that isn’t why for the longest time Christians weren’t even allowed to read their own book?
Religion is a tool to enrich some and control others.
Or they disagree with you. I think they see the bullshit that is religion in general, as the comment I replied to was about religion in general.
But Americans are certainly busy making the Christian religion a very divisive subject. I mean two books by pastors who are pushing the idea that Empathy is a Sin? Or the notion that wealth is an indication of God rewarding the right people? It is a mess.
But like I said, this is how religion works, people invent it and wield it for personal gain and control. Always has been that way.
The fallacy, of course, is that all religious people are evil. Not true. You can’t paint everyone with the same brush.

Well I disagree and I can’t see any productive conversation moving forward.
Take care.

Holy shit Lemmy hates Christians.
The downvotes are very telling.
