It seems like such a little story that it would probably have an origin. It doesn’t seem like the ceramics class, the people who created the story mentioned, ever existed. Also I’d say the main reason it could work, is that it got them to actually do something.

This is treating Twitter as a pornographic website, which the new French law puts more requirements on. If it was just a “I am over 18” button, I don’t think pornhub would pull out(pun unintended). It’s easy to bypass with a VPN or tor, but are you going to pull that out just to doom scroll for a hate fix? Maybe, but that’s a choice a lot of people are going to have to make.

I teach CS at the freshman level. I don’t use a Mac, but I had to spend ten minutes over zoom teaching the basic functions to a student who didn’t know where the notepad equivalent was.
