This kind of post isn’t helpful. It’s useless finger wagging at this point that isn’t actually going to substantively change things and it does nothing to challenge Democratic ineffectiveness.

Is the Democratic party better than the Republicans? Sure. But during the whole time Biden was in office that didn’t stop my rights from eroding in the state I live in and the current Democratic status quo is to claim that standing for some civil rights is a problem. I won’t say some things didn’t get better but an improving economy didn’t help with the cost of living for those of us who actually have to live in THIS economy.

The general argument though, is that if you vote for the lesser of two evils, therefore you’re picking the opponent that you feel you are most likely going to nudge on the issues. The DNC ran a postmortem, claimed that they were going to be open and honest about the results, then hid the results when it contradicted their pro-Israel stance.

Nevermind that our leaders are fighting corruption and fascism with strongly worded letters, while the establishment is engaged in actively trying to destroy any momentum from their left while they seek out this mythical centrist Republican that’ll vote for them. Am I supposed to feel okay with a party who’s establishment thinks my rights are optional? Are brown people supposed to feel safe when out government is engaged in active ethnic cleansing and the opposition is dog whistling about how much they love strong borders? Are people of middle eastern descent supposed to feel okay when the opposition party supports a genocide?

Are we supposed to be convinced that a political party is willing to pay attention to protests and act on them, when they can’t even be bothered to be transparent about and learn from a postmortem that told them actual fucking genocide is a line in the sand that enough people are unwilling to cross that it’d cost them one of the most consequential fucking elections of century?!

Voting blue is a tool, but how is doing it no matter who going to be meaningful when the Democrats won’t learn from their mistakes, will double down on their harms, will throw their own candidates under the bus for being too far left, and will continuously shift rightward?

I’m all for not letting the perfect get in the way of the good, and I have absolutely followed through on the “picking your opponent” mindset, but you actually have to have good on the board.

Kinda hard for me to answer that ATM. When I got mine, it was gifted to me by someone who upgraded to an OLED model. I was originally going to buy one but Valve wasn’t going to hold onto a Steam Deck long enough for me to transfer money from my bank to PayPal so I let someone else buy it. (Which was the exact one that was later gifted to me so it’s like fate!) And also I was going through some intense burnout when it was gifted to me and I’m still kinda recovering. Like, intense enough that it impacted my ability to do recreational activities too. It sucked.

All that said, I don’t really use it much yet so it’s hard to justify it’s worth and my own use case. I had considered using it as a back up PC for when I don’t want to be bound to my bedroom but I already have an option for that. But I would argue it makes a pretty decent desktop. I have used it in that capacity quite a bit. Other than that sometimes I use it when I want to play a game in my bed or while standing/pacing.

I’ve never really been one for portable gaming so I’m not prone to taking it to town with me and I only recently acquired non-roommate local friends so I haven’t had much chance to take it with me while visiting them either. So yeah I dunno if I can justify it’s worth. If the shortages weren’t what they are and if they had a $400 or less model I’d suggest it. Especially for the age. But IDK. If you can find one on eBay or something for a decent price point I don’t think it’d be a bad purchase.

I haven’t really considered the idea of using Plasma on a mobile device yet. I’m only starting to dabble in this now with an old Surface tablet. I’m using Gnome on that since quick research turned me onto using either that or Phosh. I prefer Gnome to Phosh in the end but Plasma’s my favorite DE soooo I’d be happy if it were good as a tablet DE.

I do have a second Surface with 4GB I could play with in the future I guess 👀

I recently put CachyOS on my Steam Deck because I wanted more control than what Steam OS was offering me. Also I prefer to install native apps most the time. ^^;;;

I also bought a second hand Surface Pro 7 and installed Cachy on that as well and now it’s my primary tablet device. (Have an iPad but I don’t want to be in Apple’s ecosystem.) So far I’ve been really happy with it.

I’ve been daily driving Endeavour OS for the past … 3 years? So this is not really a big switch for me. I might consider installing that if/when I decide to reinstall my primary Desktop OS ^^;;;
