It’s not actually new, it’s a 5 years old laptop I bought second hand for 770$ (traded in my old laptop and paid 500$) I’m still contemplating if I overpaid for it or not shit like laptop or computer parts are expensive in my country :(, but at least I have 12GB of vram now .

I used KDE for years only recently switched to Niri, what I can say for KDE is I don’t have to dicking around config files and nice features that are missing from other WM/DE like ICC profiles and HDR also very easy to customize. The reason I switch is because KDE getting too good and boring and using Niri reminded me when I use Linux for the first time again (same with switching from Windows to Linux because Windows is boring and barely customizable and cuntpilot)

Last I checked the highest spec of thinkpad t480 only has i7 8th gen with 4c8t, if you do a lot of compiling you probably gonna have to wait for a long time for medium to larger size projects, get anything with ryzen 6 cores or more instead

Swap but better it behave mostly like actual ram and fast too, not as fast as actual ram but still way faster than swap I can open 5 browser tabs one of them playing a video while compiling a software I don’t feel my system slow down at all

Yeah I saw people also report on KDE forum that they’re also seeing the artifacts as well, if you don’t see it while gaming you should be fine

You can try to setup zram if you have fast nvme the game should see it as actual ram
