Soon, many of us won’t be able to afford to drive at all, it would be nice if we had other options

Bus lanes are too easy for the next politician to remove bus priority and allow cars back into the lane. At least with rails it’s a lot more costly to remove the route. Busses also still contribute to microplastics and tire waste compared to railed trams. Trams are also easier to automate which can make employing drivers and adding trams to lines less difficult compared to buses. The rails are also more effecient as there is less friction.
I’d defintely take BRT over no transit but many cities are dense enough to justify electrified trams.
Many cities paved over their tram lines. Sometimes they poke through during road work. We had trams in nearly every city 100 years ago yet today people tell me we can’t afford it or our population is too small to support it. If we could do it 100 years ago we could certainly do it now.
Going backwards while the rest of the world builds more functional and fair cities. We feel just as bad up here in Canada where our provincial premier is overstepping cities to force them to remove bike lanes that just got installed. The lanes are along a subway corridor and there are several apartment buildings planned on those roads that have extensive bicycle parking plans with much less car parking. And we’ve got big plans for new highways while we refuse to build rail along the densest part of our nation.
How many times will techbros reinvent the train/tram until North America finally starts laying down rails?
The way his supporters talk is like this, if it is something they like, they claim Trump singlehandedly did that thing. If it is something they don’t like, they claim the fucking government is holdng Trump back from his real goals.
Also, you can’t afford a house, car ownership is mandatory, and we do nothing to stop our oligarchs from creating monopolies and playing silly little games like price fixing groceries.
Well to win, the jeep would have to be running, so most would be disqualified before the match even starts. If the ref is feeling nice they can allow up to 3 attempts to start the jeep.
Forever replacing the job of the intern.
Can you really call a sea of single family homes and overgrown backyards a city? I get that cities get bigger, but if we are going to pave over farmland lets fit more than 5-10 people per acre.
Yet here in Canada, we pave over our farmland to build McMansions and strip malls. Sure we can feed our own country and then some still, but is this really the best use of such high quality arable land?
Id have had 100k if i sold at 20 cents. And that doesnt even factor in the thousands of doge i gambled away on pokershibes, a dogecoin poker site.
If he had kept his seed phrase for his wallet, he would be able to recover the funds to a new hard drive. This was very common advice if you did a little bit of research before purchasing btc. I can’t judge too much though as I ignored a dogecoin wallet when they were worthless but 500,000 doge suddenly felt less worthless once doge pushed past 5-10 cents, but by that time, my wallet was gone and I had lost my seed.
TFW ants are better at sharing resources than humans
Yea I’m not too keen on giving authorization to hit pedestrians. If I feel threatened in my car, I am not allowed to run over the person so why should a driverless car gain that right? And if the panic button is going to call the police, how is that any different from the passenger using their phone to contact police? Seems like extra steps of middlemen and confusion when the passenger could just call once they feel the need.
I could defintely see a case for some extra safety features that help keep the doors locked and shut, maybe thicker windows too if needed to prevent robberies/assaults.
Mixed use zoning and a multiuse building? This defintely isnt a north american city. America is “too big” to build like this.
I agree with banning smartphones during classes. They are incredibly distracting and I know i didn’t understand the real value of that free education until well after I had graduated.
I also think less dependence on social media for staying in touch and communicating could help reduce loneliness and some of the depression and anxiety some people face. If we are less connected at our fingertips to people, we are more inspired to see and connect with them in person, which in my experience is more fullfilling.
It still kept up for at least 2 generations of AAA when built.
And we’ve also got a bigger housing bubble
