Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Which are some low effort habits or hobbies that have had a positive impact on your life?
4·29 days agoInstead of cherry picking “low effort” habits or hobbies. Pick habits you value and hobbies you like, then just put in a bit of effort starting from the lowest amount. Stop when you think it’s too much.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•What is a specific part of a video game that made you quit playing that game?
24·2 months agoI grew up on Diablo 1 & 2. I could co-op with friends, the grind wasn’t too bad, and the RNG table for loot was acceptable. Then Diablo 3 launched with a real money auction house, it made me realize that GAMETIME = MONEY and it just zapped all of the fun.

Linux@lemmy.ml•Debian 13.7 “Trixie” Released with 106 Bug Fixes and 107 Security Updates
1·2 months agoI started on stretch. I wish I had started on potato just so could say “I’m running potato”.
Years ago, coming from Windows 7, I decided Linux Mint was simple enough to dip my toes into Linux. Some jackass had posted a guide to manually install a cool looking desktop environment and I fell for it faster than an idiot born yesterday.
Sure, the DE worked and looked cool for a day or two. But it was massively borked after the first security update. Looking back, I wouldn’t do anything different. I am grateful for that tough first lesson. After spending the subsequent days reading about the different distros, I picked one that was notoriously un-shiny and I read the documentation. Whenever I think about adding shiny, unsupported thingies, I think about how fast foolish decisions can tank the OS.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Do you value high fidelity (audio, visual, or other)? Do you notice a difference?English
2·2 years agoI just want to say how happy I am that good sounding audio equipment and large screen TVs are relatively cheap. With a bit of research and tinkering, one can have a nice A/V setup for not much $$$. Of note, I am very impressed with the audio quality of Class D amplifiers nowadays. I was conditioned to believe that Class D would always be inferior until I tried it myself.

That’s a very interesting way to make a hinge with wires on it. Really nice job.
