As someone else started it’s worth noting that Mullvad themselves did not donate to anything. I understand people’s argument that money to Mullvad goes to the founder and thus goes to the people they donate to and that was people’s argument for Proton as well. So do what you will as it’s everyone’s personal preference.

That’s why lists like these, while useful for those who are just looking into privacy, deGoogle, etc. to first learn of projects and services, are almost always lacking nuance without text or all the major alternatives where then people can choose based on their beliefs. 🙂

I think DRM on Kobo books is dependent on what the publisher requests or something like that. The few I have bought don’t have DRM from what I can tell.

Yeah I saw the takahē in Zealandia and one other zoo. Would have been cool to see in the wild if possible in the preservation areas the have.

I too saw a kea in the wild near the Milford Sound! Sadly I didn’t see any of the others in the wild. The takahē was also in Zealandia.

But out of curiosity what apps didn’t work for you that were deal breakers?

Works for me on Verizon and has for 5+ years. Google Fi even works as I’ve tried that with a different phone on GrapheneOS.

Alright that doesn’t sound that bad. I have a Mi Band 3 and haven’t upgraded to anything else due to the need to get a key with anything newer.

How was the Bangle JS2? What made you switch away from it?

I thought about using Amazfit products but all the new ones require Huami/Xiaomi server pairing. How was that process?

The problem I had with products like Airalo is that if you are traveling and need to actually call a hotel, excursion, or any company in the country you are visiting you cannot do that with just a data eSIM like Airalo.

Sure you could use WiFi calling maybe but in my experience when I really needed to call someone I had to switch back to my original carrier and incur the $10/day fee.
