They really did! 42 shots on goal at that level is incredible and they gave it everything from the moment the puck dropped. Losing a well played game to dirty players like Tkachuk has gotta hurt.

They were GUTTED to lose, they looked broken and one player was crying. Hockey is Canada’s most famous sport, and their roster was jaw droppingly good. USA haven’t won in decades but beat them mainly due to having a truly amazing goalie. When they got their silver they were embarrassed, upset, and got given consolation stuffed toys. McKinnon (one of the greatest players playing) looked at his like he wanted to stab it.
