Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•How big could a cell phone be before you refused to carry it?
3·10 days agoI’m old(-ish). I got a Pixel 9 when they were new. I like the size but when typing I really wish I got the pro instead. The on-screen keyboard keys are just a tad too small for me. The older I get, the larger keyboard I need. I keep fat-fingering keys and either need to correct or rely on unpredictable auto-complete. The biggest pain is trying to accurately place the cursor where I want to make an edit . Fuck that shit. I always need to remove and retype half a word just to fix a single letter because I can’t get the fucking cursor where I want it.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•One of my bucket list things is to try a food item, listen to an album and read a book from every country in the world. Any recommendations?
1·11 days agoThe Netherlands. Food: Kapsalon, or poffertjes. Album: “Moontan” by The Golden Earring (though I prefer “Paradise in Distress”). Book: “De Ontdekking van de Hemel” (The Discovery of Heaven)
Gnome 2 was the default when I switched. I stay mostly because of familiarity and inertia. There has to be a really good reason to switch. Maybe soon. KDE implemented workspaces-per-screen. That could be a killer feature that would get me to switch. I loved that when I was running AwesomeWM.

21·2 months agoI wonder if that is one of the reasons the original Death Stranding isn’t available on Steam anymore. The healing items in that game are cans of Monster Energy. Totally out of place in a far futuristic post-apocalyptic world. And interaction is forced (can’t progress without drinking a can)

If you use zigbee2mqtt it’s easy. Just set the old HA ID on the bulb in zigbee2mqtt.
Woodworking is surprisingly popular among tech folk. It seems some hobbies just click better for techies. Bouldering is another example.
Same. I’m happy with my Reolink. Works well. Can have local storage and integration.
