    That’s what my grandmother and I used for the first 5 years of my life. For toilet paper we used the Sears catalog. (this was in the early 70’s, the catalog came mostly similar to newspaper except the middle 10 pages or so were the glossy color ones which do not work for that purpose.)

    It really wasn’t bad, except in the winter. Canadian winters and outhouses are a special experience… you did not dawdle when on one of those missions.

    We’re just on the end of a bit of a heatwave, and I found out my neighbors don’t have AC because they spent nearly the whole time outside in the shade because their house was too hot inside.

    These are the same people that have multiple pitbulls never kept on a leash, rarely mow, often park on their front lawn, and used to sell drugs out of the house, so I’m finding it very difficult to feel very sorry for them.

    I had saved up over $1300 from odd jobs/paper route in my teens just for it. On my 18th, I bought 30 hits of acid and a few cases of beer for me and my friends, rented a motel room under a different name 80 miles from home, and partied for about 2 days.
