To me arguing over which fruit belongs in which category is a prime example of people arguing over shadows in Plato’s cave. Not that it’s a waste of time or anything but sometimes people act like tomatoes won’t grow if you call them vegetables. Like at the end of the day it’s just humans developing a system to make sense of nature rather than discovering an inherent, pre-existing system.

If you’ve never kept birds maybe get a couple of pigeons first. They’re more affectionate, less work, less delicate when it comes to diet, shelter and toxins, less destructive and generally more easy going than most parrots. They don’t speak but there’s no guarantee your parrot would do so either.

Whatever you do don’t rush the decision. Parrots can reach a very high age and they require a lot of emotional work in addition to their physical needs, much more than a cat honestly. They’re an awesome choice for the right person but they’re less common than cats and dogs for a reason.

I’m 29 and I think babies are kinda fascinating because they’re so primal but interacting with kids roughly between 2 and 14 feels very exhausting to me. After that they start acting like they know everything (while usually knowing very little) but they tend to develop a particular sense of humor that I can work with. But yeah it’s mostly a chore for me and I see no reason to incorporate more of that into my life. I don’t feel a biological urge to reproduce.

The Steamdeck is as much of a PC as a PlayStation. As in yes they’re both PCs but specifically built for gaming. If you want to use them for other stuff you can but it’s not what most people buy them for. One runs BSD and the other Linux but the OS doesn’t determine what is and isn’t a PC. Your phone is a PC too. It’s an umbrella term.
