@talkingpumpkin@lemmy.world you have the genes of IE6

Good thing I made a Discord alternative that is using p2p and thus making it impossible to verify the age of any user.

Anybody could make a website with blind claims in 10min. Why the fuck does this even get posted here?

I think proton dodged a bullet as the comment of the CEO was only not okay, but not like super bad. But if you funnel 300k to a openly racist idiot, that’s super bad. Same with Mullvad. As soon as money flows, you are immediately batshit crazy.

Antoine’s argument is still very naive and short sighted.
Only because some corporations are linked to fascism, does not make the technology inherently fascist.
If these links are an issue, we should also all stop using Microsoft and Google, because they offer Isreael computing power, and thus every service is now supporting genocide. So if you are that user, all fine, enjoy an off-grid life. But don’t pretend to be better, if you still rely on those companies in the first place.

So Debian, what are you going to do now?
Edit: nm, they allow LLM written code now.

So what is your suggestion? Where do you draw the line? Because obviously it is not just about LLM.

Same goes for PayPal, and yet everybody keeps using it. Not saying that this is a reason to use Frontier models. But calling the whole technology fascist is simply not true.

Initially sent to debian-private, shared here because I want the consequences of Debian fully embracing fascist-backed technology to be known.
That seems to be a bit far reached and naive. Hopefully Antoine isn’t driving cars, because there are several brands that were supported by Nazi’s at one time in the past.
Besides that, I think it is good to have a discussion about the use or LLM. I just think that the reason here is a bit unusual.

Uhm. Not new? Is being done by almost any country on any bigger event? Including blue light forces? How is this even news?

I think you are confusing something. A tech company running proprietary code can and will ask for age verification. It does not matter if the user runs Windows, Linux, iOS, GrapheneOS.
The law here makes sure that services, which are basically also open source, are not required to do the age verification check.
So, you install Windows? Age check. You install Linux? No age check. Before even opening a browser. Then on Linux you open Netflix? Age check.
So I fundamentally saw this actually as a good news.
Already in the works and already bigger than GTAVI. It is called Star Citizen

This is wholesome. Fresh burning-body-scented popcorn.
Another easy trick is to lean your phone to a wall and to do some goatse. There is no better way to get rid of the spies.
First they changed apt-get to apt. Now this.
I can’t keep up with all the sudden changes.
Well he has been brain dead for decades, so how is this news?
Same boat. Because a company abusing a hardware standard so much you basically have to emulate things, is the result of capitalism.
